Pig Parts Compatibility Thread
I was hoping to collect knowledge about parts compatibility into one thread.
Pig production for the US ran from 1967 to 1979 - correct?
It would be neat to know what years can cross parts.
Example, we know the tail lights from '78-9 are unique and will not work on earlier vehicles.
How about radiators? What year radiators can run in what other year bodies?
Dashboards - when did these change? The 2F and 4 spd went into Pigs in '74/'75, similar to the 40's - correct?
When did they run those side marker/turn signal lights?
When did they switch the front doors?
When did the tailgates change? Are they all compatible?

i think front doors changed in mid 77, but not sure. the dashes changed a bit around 72...i think it may coincide with the steering column change. key went from dash to column, hvac control panel changed and the switch for the tailgate was in a metal logo strip whereas later models have it in the dash with a little script logo. can't remember the shape of the dash, but i think that may have changed also.
front seats changed mounting style on the later years, but i don't know when.

reverse lights through 72 were flat little things, went to the big boxy ones for 73 and ran that way until they went to the integrated taillates.

Are the fuel inlets the same for all years? Mine points pretty much straight up and down...

they had smaller tialights in the late 60's / early 70's that are a little more attractive, but poorer reverse lighting of course.. Here is a photo..

What about tailgates?
Can anyone post up when they changed and what years interchanged with what years?
Thanks!

Wasn't this thread a sticky at one time? It probably should be.

Pablo - the tailgates lost the indent/recess (where the TOYOTA is stamped) that coincides with the early tail-lights ....after 77. Just compared a 71 and a 78 at my homestead and this appears to be the most significant difference structurally. If you dig up Buckethead's thread, the PO of his pig transplanted a 78 into a 71 with no dilemma - however, because there is no recessed upper section on the 78-80 tailgate, it will not line up with the depth of the early rear lights(cosmetic only) Long story short - from what I have gathered - all may be interchanged and functional - just differing visually. I may stand to be corrected

this is a very interesting thread, should it be a sticky?, Pablo, I am hurting for floorboards also, sent an email to IPOR but Lance must be busy as have not heard back from him, Ehsan in Pakistan was interested and did make up a batch of fender patches but I get the feeling that he is a bit burned out as has only sold one set although the price seemed reasonable.more or less 140$ delivered...maybe if enough of us get together Lance might make us some........K9crazy got him to make a batch of rockers that are awsome;

There are differences between the '74/75 and the '76 for sure. The rubber mat from the '76 doesn't fit nicely in the '74/75 floor. Basically just the jack and tool holder thingys that are different.

Thanks for the replies!
I know at one time someone posted pics of the different tailgates for me, but search turned up nothing. What up w/ that?
Did they stop stamping "TOYOTA" in the tailgates in '78?

you're welcome .........looks like they stopped stamping Toyota on the tailgates after 76, judging by a few examples.............

Well, my '77 tailgate does NOT have the 'Toyota' stamped in it. Kinda' bums me out , too.
The '70 does though.

Two cool!
If I had two Piggies that looked like that, I would not be bummed at all (esp if one of them had a license plate frame that said "Beaverton Toyota"!!!)

I really like that 'ol 'Beaverton Toyota' license plate frame also. Its original actually. I have the original manual along with the orig. saleman's business card, and some other stuff, too. This rig was sold in Oregon and has spent its entire life living in Oregon. I didn't need another pig but after I saw it I had to buy it.
