Actually, I've found the rubber from both Slocruisers and PVCruisers to be the exact replacement and easy to install. I have the cargo window and tailgate glass weatherstripping from PVCruisers and the lower tailgate wiper/side as well as the windsheild weatherstripping from SloCruisers all installed. I can't speak for JC Whitney as I have not got anything from them yet, I'm waiting for a positive of a part number for door weatherstripping which it appears we may have from Marshall (I'm waiting till he has all doors done and they all close relatively easy).

I find the bases and gaskets (between fender and light) for the font turn signals to be hard to get and they are '55 specific (I spent a couple of evenings taking apart busted lights to make two good ones for my truck but I still have no gaskets). If we had bases and gaskets we could modify '40 series lights. "Nuclearlemon" was talking about licence plate light gaskets, I could probably use those too. No one has come up with a weather strip for the lower portion of the tailgate (along the bottom of the tailgate where it hinges) though I can see closed cell foam working there. If the JC Whitney stuff doesn't work then we will need some door weatherstripping as well. That's about all that comes to mind right now.

Ige, well there are two different weatherstrips for this area. One that mounts to the gate it's self and one that mounds on the edge of the body. Mine which I believe is original doesn't even have a piece that mounts on the body but it wouldn't hurt to put a piece of the weatherstripping I bought above on it.

The stuff that goes on the gate is another story. The Slocruisers product for the tailgate outer weatherstripping has these pieces already attached.

As far as the bottom piece across. I will probably buy one of these profiles. I would be 1-4 would work well.

You may be waiting a while. I'm not installing all this stuff only to take it all back off because I'm working on the body for paint. I will do the front drivers door. But not the other side. Once I take pictures it will go back in the bag and sit until I'm ready to put the hole thing back together. I'm stoked that we have found a solution to our issues. And cannot wait to put everything back on a nice freshly clean original 55.

I'm patient. With a '55 one gets used to not having everything right away. I'd assume you'll be there in a few months. I wouldn't be ordering anything till 2008 anyways.

C-G, do you a small sample of the lower tailgate weather stripping where it hinges?, also the bases for the turn signals........if you do, please forward them to me with the brass gears and I can approach wefco; the difference between wefco and some of the other suppliers is that they manufacture inhouse and can make what is needed if they don't have it in stock.........would only approach them for what is needed; not what someone is fabricating already pv cruisers and slocruisers are doing a great job..........thanks John and Seth and , just got my tailgate W-stripping in and looks great............wondering though how to take the plastic pins out along with the retaining strap out of the lower tailgate outer lip to hold the tailgate rubber seal in place!..........C-G can you please email me a picture of the jack retainer clamp?

Marshall, why didn't you go with the Fairchild profile # 0350? it looks very similar to the original, more so than the JC Whitney; am I missing something?, I have been known to do that

I'll see what I can find at the wrecker in the next week or two. I KNOW there are none of those on my truck that's why I'm looking for it! I can send the spare jack retainer if you want, I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. It bolts under the drivers side in our '76. PM me if interested I think I promised you something else too so remind me of that as well.

C-G thanks again, definitely can use the jack retainer.....the rattling is driving me crazy!, and my truck is also missing the lower tailgate weather strip, thus the need for a small sample piece to see if wefco has it in stock or can fab it;

Headliner retaining clips from restoration specialties. page 163 of current PDF catalog. Part# 9416. Coincidentally this is the same part number as Au-Ve-Co mentioned in other threads so I'm guessing this is a valid supplier as Au-Ve-Co does not sell direct.

Just turn the crank and extend the jack until it's tight, you can source a rubber ring like that.

Lou, do you have the part that attaches to the floor? That is what I was going to send! What EXACTLY are you missing? Does your floor bracket have the rubber pad that the top of the jack comes up against?

Like Luke111 says, just crank the jack open until it is wedged between the seat support and that bracket.

C-G, have the floor support, not the rubber; mine had a dry rotted large about 6 inch diameter O ring that I think held it in place.....it was broken when I got my pig............was there not a wing nut that held a clamp/retainer holding the jack firmly in place around its neck and attached to the floor part of the support?; you can see in nuclear lemon's pix on the horizontal component an aprox 1/2 inch hole where I think it went.........I was able to drive a new pig in 69 or 70 but did not buy it; just seem to remember that the jack was held very firmly not only in the vertical plane but also in the horizontal axis again that was a loooong time ago and I might be very mistaken!

here's the wing nut style. early pig and 40 series. the only thing i've ever seen held by a rubber oring is the tool bags. the two pigs i have here both have the canvas straps holding the tool bags. tool bag is under right hand side, jack is under left hand side. then, the jack tools are clipped to the bottom of the rear seat.

Lou, there's your choices!! Does your floor support have the rubber disk? My spare does if you want it. The rubber disk is not removeable, you'd need to replace your's with my spare to get that rubber disk.

Has anyone come up with a solution on the rear door small glass weatherstrip? Even separate pieces would be better than the nothing I have now...

We believe that Slocruisers out of Cambria, CA is working on those.

G_G and Inge; thanks for the input and pix; could not have figured it out....mine is a 78 pig and the jack is wedged in the way Inge shows in her pix; the Large rubber O-ring was probably to hold the tool kit; C-G I do not have the rubber piece so if you could; please send the jack support along with the gears; are there any more left?
