What's your hoof size?
So, I'm thinking ahead again in my project, and I'm really thinking about finding a mini truck housing to make a center diff rear, for the NP205, and at the same time do a SOA. Is a Super Swamper 35 x 10.50 x 16 SSR too big? Would it look bad being so narrow? Anyone else run these?
So, what is your hoof size?

Me? 33x9.5 BFG AT's on original wheels: old school all the way!
Seems like lots of people run that size or more. Shouldn't "look" bad at all.
Why do you care what it "looks" like? It's what you want it to do, right?
Just wondering...

If you run a V-6 mini rear thay are actaully a couple of inches wider that the stock TLC axle and also have interated rear ebrakes. I used one on one of my 40s when I ran a 205 case. Worked like a dream.
Only problem I see with running this setup with 35s is rubbing on the wheel wells under articulation. THe rear wheel wells on a pig are tight. Might have to run a diffenet offset wheel and a 2" lift with the SOA. Not positive on that though, never tried it on a pig.

Cardinal, does your Pig wander on the highway to the trail? I realize that Pigs are not a sports car, but te mini truck that I had with 12.50's wandered very bad. That is my main concern for going with the 35 x 10.50's. Plus, I could run just some regular old school rims.

Nope, it runs a lot better on the road than my 40. It does not have stablizer, but will soon.

Running 35 X 12.5 X 15 BFG Muds on some 8" rims, rides really nice on the road. my steering is a little sloppy but I don't wander very much...unless the semi's have grooved the road.

I run 33x12.5 on a stocker with a 1"(actually 0.75") body lift. Those wheels are a tight fit. With the proper backspacing, the only rubbing possible will be on the front fender lip, which can really trash a tire when bent. Pigs look decent with pizza cutters. With the wandering subject, my steering box is really trashed with a large amount of slop. With bfg at tires, there was no wandering, with my tsl's aired above 15psi, there is a lot of following of grooves and wandering when going over 60mph and hitting bumps on the road.

Cool. Maybe I'll go with the 12.50's then. Maybe not.
And here, the little tiny cars with thier studded snow tires, make the grooves. Nothing I drive fits in them and boy do they grab!! Even on the wife's Saturn (we don't drive studs, Toyo Observe) they are difficult to drive in, I usually half track.

2 things to consider about wandering.
1- worm in steering box is worn
2. Toe-in vs. toe-out
adjust tie rods for very slight toe-in, this will make it return to center better
make sure all tie rod ends are replaced

hoof size
I'm running 35x12.5 BFG Muds right now but I'm making minimal contact with steering arm pivot at the box when I stuff the front driver side tire (width issue i think) so I'm going to 34x10.5 swampers next

Hello,
36 x 12.50 x 15 on 10's worn out stock springs over.... HTH
ditto on the toe in/out with big tires, makes a big difference if the soft tires aren't fighting each other....

My 35"x12.5" on 10" rims go fine down the road as well. There's definitely more flex in the sidewalls as opposed to the 33's I had, but having the 35's with stock gearing is like having over-drive.

i'm runnin 36-12.50 on 8" rims, like it fine. just the tiniest bit of trimming.
yooper, 4.5" you think??? i kept mine as low as possible and it seems like im about 6-6.5" over stock. do me a favor, measure your ground clearance to the framerail around the back of the skidplate.
i hover around 23.5" with 36" swampers

Hi guys, just got back from the 3FE Bash in Colorado, which was fricking awesome.
My SOA was done by Lance Williams (Iron Pig Offroad) and he did a lot of little stuff to make the SOA low. 4.5" is his estimate. He can tell you the details - he will defiinitely remember them, as this was Todd Kaderabek's truck at the time and Lance used some parts from his own truck, Rock Lobster. What I remember are custom springs, which are pretty flat, and shaved perches...
I will try to measure tonight, but I might not have time to go to where the truck is today - it might be a couple more days before I get to measure.
Here are some pre-existing photos I have that might help. These were not made to show the spring brackets, but they are kinda in there. Let me know if you need more pics and I'll try to take them soon, or I should have more at home that might be better, which I can search out some time this week:

back end just needs to be welded (waiting till i get the powertrain in). front, needs a lot of work...and tires ... no motor or trans/xfer, so front will drop some. 35x12.5x15 on stockers for now, but i'll get them widened when i get closer to running it.

10.50 vs 12.50
I have 33x12.50 Goodyear MT/R's, but I almost wish I had gone with 33x10.50 BFG's. The 12.50 is about 1/2" too wide, so I get some rubbing on my steering arm. The 12.50 is great in sand, however.

Finally have been home for more than five minutes in a hurry (commuting from my lake house for the last week, very very hectic).
It's 22.5" from the ground to the bottom of the frame rail at about the rear of the transfer case - that middle part of the frame that's pretty level. These are fairly new 35" MT/R's, which means they are about 34" tall I think.
If anyone needs more pics let me know.

Mine is 21 3/4" front and 23" in the back...hmmm...I like the height...I need to see those perches...doesn't seem like you could shave much off of them...If you could get a pic of the perch on the pumkin...that would be great.
