I'd agree. with a little sound proofing it is on par with an FJ60 easily.

first piggie...sorry for the bad pic...never had any photos, just video. this was about 14 or 15 years ago. bought it from a friend in southern illinois...sold it back to him when i couldn't get it to colorado...he in turn sold it to one of his students who, last i heard was building it. iirc, it was a 69
if any of you illinois folks recognizes it, i'd like to know whatever happened to it.

nothing fancy, but that's what makes it a pig....pretty much stock...bought it in Wyoming when I lived there. Brought it to Virginia with me - opened up all the original documentation - low and behold, it came from Northern Virginia originally.
Dealer installed A/C (not working, surprise, surprise)
Toyota Minitruck Power Steering
sm465 to be installed pronto

Hi, I'm a fellow fj55 enthusiast from australia.
1975 FJ55
2F, purrs like a tiger,
4 speed gearbox,
I bought it 5 months ago for $600 (australian dollars) thats bloody cheap.
It's on dual fuel, it now has a newer front bench seat to get roadworthy
Some rust in the usual spots, like front quarter panels, sills, front windsheild surround, rear quarters. I've cut out and welded a whole new peice on one quarter panel so far, and looks real good. The roof also has minimal rust, old roof liner has been ditched so the rust doesn't return, and the seams are getting re-sealed.
I also made a new stainless front exhaust pipe, and rerouted it so it runs along the chassis instead of crossing over/under, and an old straight through muffler of a motorbike.
In the process of getting it ready for registration, and while it's in bits for cleaning/fixing im painting the inside, then later on when the rust is properly fixed i will paint the outside too. Cobalt blue is the colour i chose.
Cheers, Dan.

Well.. I was out hunting thru moving boxes and not only did I come across three of my TLC FSM's but I finally found that dammed cable needed to down load photo's of my pig... It is all stock... has usual rust but not to bad... runs great now that ive done a tune-up... Plans are to lift her, 33's, and some cleaning up... also want to convert to diesel sooner or later.
This is what she looked like after we got her home and throw some primer and paint in areas that had surface rust. The hood is from another 1977 FJ55. I had to buy four new tires, Goodyear 235/75/15's. They are a basic street tire. From another project I had some rear OME comfort shocks and a set of Bilstein's. I installed them the same day. Rides a lot better.
This is what she looks like now. I bought some cans of Krylon at walmart. Ivory and Red. I think it really cleaned the apperance up. The front bumper was then straightened. It took alot of work to seal up the bad exhauat leak . PO did a crappy welding of the exhaust manifold flange. It still needs a lot of work but is looking better and runs better .
