Foodies 55 - Australian
Hey guys,
just traded up from an 89 hilux dualcab to a stocko 78 55.
Internals
New 2f motor(extractors), 4spd gearbox,tranny,rear diff in 99
Nothing mechanicaly has not been replaced since 99 infact except the front diff!
80Litre and 120litre fuel tanks.
Rust
Small rust hole under sill and thats about it.
Kill rusted before being resprayed 2 years ago (however the roof linning is original and I am 1 week away from ripping it off to see whats underneath)
Just added 31.5 BFG Baja's from the lux.
Todo/Wish list.
Extended shackles/longers springs reset with 45 degree shackle geometry.
40 series disc brake conversion.
Chop the front bar so it's just a clean steel bumper.
Fitout the rear for camping (sliding drawers etc)
Add 2nd battery.
33's
Aircon/powersteer
More sound deadening.
More kill rust and spray on body deadner.
Central locking/alarm
Rear tyre carrier
Mega Wish List.
Lexus alloy v8/auto
Body lift, bigger spring lift to fit 37's

Welcome to Mud Foodie!
That is a beautful pig. By the way, what is the chrome strip on your tailgate above the chrome handle? Seems to have a key or switch or something and is it stock? Thanks for sharing.

I don't think the 2nd tank is stock. I do know the original owner had it put because he towed his caravan around Australia with it. It looks.
I got underneath and check out how its mounted. Cross member above the chasis frame and welded...I don't think Toyota would have welded to the chassis. It's never coming out. But its build quailty is great, so it shouldn't have to.
I have the original door mirrors in very good condition. I am not sure why the dude put these black things on, they are not an improvement on vision...nor looks.
Rear chrome bar is the manual window opener/door lock. Opened up the back of the door to inspect the bottom. No rust!!

New Pig on the Block
73' Raggy
Picked this gem up about a month ago. Completely stock except for the tires and rims and of course the rack. Was used as a hunting rig in South Texas and
had been sitting for 2 years. Have put a kit in the carb, back window working, got all guages working.
Still needs a rear diff seal and some other misc. things. Under carriage is going to get a Rust Bullet treatment. Originally bought it to turn a nickel on, but I like it so much I think I will keep it !
