Tail Light Replacement idea
Here is what I did and as soon as I did I found some square lights that would have fit almost perfect. Oh well when these go out I'll replace them with the square ones. I do have the Reverse lenses and assembly and the left lens and assembly brake light and the right assembly no lens. I will sell them.

Thank you, I've been working on it for a while. I'm hoping it will be ready by spring to hit the trails.

Like the cruiser... don't like the lights. Look a little too rough to me.

Once I get some plastic body filler on them and get it all the same color it won't look as rough as the picture shows. i just have the sheet metal welded and primed right now. The body shop is still working on it.

Actually I like the idea of the disappearing reverse lights... mine will probably end up with disappearing reflectors
I meant the tail light replacement in general. Unless you are planning more sheet metal work in the tail light area. The lines look a little funky going from stock tail light pocked to the oval LED tail light.
Not a bad idea... just looks like it needs some metal work in the area to "finish" it out.

Lil John Yeah I found some square ones that fit really good after I already put those in. They are off the Postal Trucks fit almost perfectly. Once these go out that is what I'll put in. I just have to cut the hole a little bigger. I may actually do it sooner than later and put those on my boat trailer.

There are square LED lights that are approx the size you need that rubber mount the same way. Available at some of the larger truckstops for big rigs.

Is that because you can't find the lenses?

I couldn't find any lenses and I've had these tail lights in my flat bead and love the way they look. And just after I put those in I found the square ones that would fit almost perfect. I can still change them really easy at this point.

I have a few extras and I'm sure others do too. I even have a NOS c/w bucket and gaskets for one side! If you want I'm sure we can work something out.

The '78/'79 have the other style lights, harder to find(especially when they keep smashing them) and I/we think the looks of the "later" style leave much to be desired? Most likely will be mounted in a bumper though? Aaron

I know where there are at least three, two of which are NOS of the newer style! Also a couple of damaged ones if anyone is interested. I posted in the "For sale" forum but no one asked about them so I didn't bother getting them. I have a small supply of used square ones for my own truck.

I also have the driver side assembly and lens passenger assembly, and both reverse lights and assembly if anyone wants them. I'm going to replace all the lights on the whole truck with something that is easy to replace eventually.
