Will FJ60 springs fit 55s ?

I recently had a front spring repair on my 55 and was told by the spring shop that 60 series springs are the same size. Does anyone know if this is true?

I was going to do 60 series springs on the rear of mine. I was told the springs are wider and longer for the rear and the mount would need to be relocated

Not really sure, yet. I've read that the fj40 and 55 front springs are the same length, w/ less spring rate from the 40s, and the center pin located back about 1.5" from center on the 40 whereas the 55s are centered. (used the search). I think I recall that the 55 and 60 were the same length, w/ the 60s pin also offset from center- less than the 40, but I can't remember which way it was.

I have 60 springs on the front of my 55. Had to hammer the rear mount a touch wider but not a big deal at all. I put 2.5 inch ome Dakar springs on. The ride is great!

Did your axle position change at all, and which way?

hmmm

I did it awhile ago. If it did it was very little. But I don't think so. That is not very definitive is it? Sorry. I would hate to say no then have somebody blaze saying that it changes like 1/4 inch and call me dumb. I had busted springs and my buddies brand new springs were sitting in my shop and it looked real close so I made them work and it turned out pretty well.

The springs are the same, except the eyes in the 60 springs are 35mm, whereas the 55 springs are 30mm. If you plan to use FJ55 Shackles, you just need to buy the 60 series bushes and shave a few mm off each side of them. If you use 60 series shackles, the 60 bushes will be fine on the shackle end, you will just need to shave the 60 bushes on the fixed pin end.
