dome light variations
For years now, I've only thought there were two kinds of pig dome lights, early and late. Never could remember which was which, just kind of filled orders based on customer's request.
So I'm looking at my newest haul of dome lights from my road trip back east and, lo and behold, there are THREE types. One is a single wire, which we can assume is self grounding. The second, two wire version, is of the double plug type, where one half of the plug is male, the other half female.
But there is a third type, two individual wires, one a male bullet, the other a female. And I guarantee you they are factory connectors.
Any pig experts out there that can shed some light on this?

I think the lower ones are for the later trucks. If I'm not mistaken my '76 is like that.

My 7/70 carcass had the single wire type so, I am guessing the two wire at the top right is intermediate to charles and the 7/70. I can not tell about my 7/75 as it was replaced by a boat light though I do have the original in a box somewhere.

What triggers the dome light to come on? Open Door? Turning a knob? Such a simple question that I cannot figure out!

There should be a switch sticking out from under the light dome. There are NO door switches in '55's that I know of.

X2 Only switch is on the dome. Also Mark the early corollas had the same similar dome. Might be from one of them.

mine has the plastic dome and then wires sticking out that have a female and male end. I am guessing that some kind of bulb attachment hooks to the wires?

Nope. Twist the dome lens and you'll see where the light attaches between two metal "ears". The wires go to the feed from the truck wiring harness.
