| convince me I need this pig Was at the wreckers yesterday when I came across this gem. They only got it in the day before.
I drove the car a few years ago when it was for sale by the previous owner. He at the time wanted $1800 for it
Drove well, the transfer case it odd, its missing the selecter lever, he at the time told me the transfer was out of a isuzu or something????
Has a generous amount of rust in rear quaters, roof, and sills. looks to be cracked and rewelded where the A piillar meets the
roof, Rear door rattled like crazy from memory.
It ran first turn of the key. it ran rough, but id say petrol is old or something.
has factory AC long range tanks, dual batteries.
he wants $800 for it. Money is a bit tight ATM, but its fate is inevidible if it stays where it is. dont like the barn doors though.
Please convince me.......

| The A/C is worth 400-500 alone.
Edit: Wait it's on the wrong side lol. Don't know the value of that in AU. |

| Road Trip? landcruiser - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 05-Jul-09 22:27:08 AEST)
PS, AC, Disk Brakes..............
I looked into freighting it to Tas, but it was going to cost more than the vehicle. If it came with those 35z I'd buy it no doubt.

| yeah is pretty good deal, its got the usual rot. but the air cond, power steer, and disc brakes were hard to pass up, and suspension alone is worth twice the price, not to mention the pajero suspension seats and UHF circa 1970 to boot :P hehe
John 'jtsaltlick' and john from profits cruisers 'greasecruiser' actually contacted me, they wanted to buy it and ship it to the states, so they asked if i would go look at it for them. so i did which resulted in me taking a ticket number 3 in the line of possible owners. then 'jsaltlick' passed on it but john 'greasecruiser' decided he was still partly interested. Now i'm not sure if im letting the cat out of the bag here or if he wanted to keep it hush hush, but he wants the ambo doors, so i will be cutting the back off either this one or my current one and shipping some ambo doors to the states if he still wants them, other wise i will have 2 pigs in my yard
always wanted to be a farmer.........

| Im not a fan of barn doors though, Tailgates are so much better. If I buy this one, i'd happily swap the doors for a tailgate. Oinker, thats done the rounds on ebay for a while now. I looked at it to, but was too far for me to get it. Congrats.
I really like the other early one thats been on ebay for ages. Too dear for me atm, but looks sweet. He has dropped the price heaps in the last month.
I need to go to bed and have a massive think about getting this pig.

Agree about the PS, AC and disks.....What sort of suspension does it have?

| What's with the huge cowcatcher bumper? I've noticed (as I'm sure others have) that almost every Australian 55 has a huge front bumper, like a cowcatcher on an old steam locomotive. Is this some sort of req'mnt, or do people do it to actually deflect big cattle as they're driving 100 mph across the Outback? That would seem smart, but 55's don't usually go that fast...

| sixty's guy: ih has ironman 40mm lift sprinhgs and 2" longer ironman shocks, which is not 18 months old according to the bloke selling it.
brider: yeah the big bumpers are needed (not legally or anything) if you head anywhere out of the city not soo much for cattle but rather the native wildlife, while kangaroo's look cute and cudle they will wite off a car/4WD no worries even doing 60km/hr ( approx 40mph). Drop bears are pretty vicious in some areas too, and can cause a bit of damage if u hit one......

| They are mainly for Kangaroos. They get hit all the time around here. Kangaroos are pretty stupid. They either come straight out in front of you in a blind corner, or are standing in the road and get stunned by the headlights and wont move, or bounce across in front of you then suddenly turn around and smack straight into you. Around here I could take you for a drive and you would be able to count thousandsand thousands of them eating in the paddocks along the highways. the local government here is doing a cull of about 600 roos atm, and thats is nothing. they breed like rabbits. I live 50 klms from Canberra (aust capital) and on the main highway at about 3.00am you WILL either have a hit or a near miss with one. And you dont need to be in the outback, one was dead outside parliament house the other morning. They can be massive too, and will more then write your car off. or come through the windscreen still be alive and kick the shit out you. they are just a pita around here.
incedentily, i have a photo here of my dads 55 where he did hit a bullock out in the 'outback' and the bullbar made from railway line didnt do squat. Bullocks are like hitting a tree.
Dave
