Top speed stock pig

"DISCLAIMER"
This post in no way endorses or condones breaking the law!

What is the fastest you have had a stock pig?

I was driving my 79 out in the country this evening, and decided to let her reins down.......got her up to 96 mph by my GPS the 80 mph speedo was sitting around 5 o clock, she was still climbing, but had a corner coming up and was nearing my turn anyway........felt darn stable with no vibrations or spooky feeliings.

bone stock other than header and de smog, 33 950 BFG's Mark Algazy carb which is the bomb!

Butch

I was on a 75 MPH stretch of I-80 today and managed a cool 83 on the GPS, I think I could have gone more, But I dont think Clementine is happy about it.
Im running 31/10.5's
I have noticed the speedo is off a little as well, at 60 MPH on the speedo, Im running about 66MPH GPS

You crazy ole man, those things are not designed to go over 50mph.

Good on you for staying young and driving like a fool................

Theres no corners in Tejas, its flat as far as the eye can seen mostly strait roads.

Come over Vancouver Island, nothing but corners and mountains, most of my diesel cruisers crawl at 30MPH hr in third over them.

I'd love to see a high speed camera on that 4 bearing crank at 90 mph.

x 1 billion

My Pig will cruise at 70 mph but that is with 35" tires and 4.11s. I won't push it faster and usually cruise around 60 unless traffic is screaming by and then I'll push 65 for very short periods. Other driver's usually don't try to push me around.

I remember when I first put a tach in. I swore I was pushing 3500 rpm and the tach proved me a liar. I was actually pushing 2300 or so. Man, these F motors scream snort!

And anyways, Pigs shouldn't be in a hurry!

I love threads like these...

98 mph in a Pig? That's only possible with the 3.73 axles. I did some math, and assuming 32" tire height for 33's, that would equate to 3,764 rpm. I would be scared at that rpm for any length of time, but they ARE designed for it...

With 4.11 axles, that would be 4,168 rpm, or more likely a rod through the block.

Interesting note: take a calculator and divide 3500 (an assumed rpm) by 4.11 (axle ratio): 3500/4.11

= 851.5815085158150851.........repeating forever

Isn't there a name for a number like this, that repeats forever? Don't math geeks catalogue stuff like this? Shouldn't I get a prize or something?

79 has 3.73's......and it was 96 mph, not that it matters that much.

the BFG's on the stock 5.5" wheel are right at the 33" advertised height.....

Fastest I have had mine on the 27" stock tires was 55. No issue but I'm not pushing it yet. I've only driven it a total of 15 miles in the past 3 years. lol.

on the straights, i'll cruise 80 in my 76, but i slow down pretty dang quick when a corner comes up cause i ain't stock and they are real top heavy when you put a 4" lift and 34x10.5s on em

can't say i've ever tried to max it out. now you got me curious

I think it's called a periodic sequence. And, I really feel like a math geek now.

It is. But a periodic number is a recurring number that falls into a pattern that goes on forever.

Back to the topic at hand...the fastest I've had my pig up to is only 65. It's just recently all back together and I am still working out why I have a wobble. Truthfully, I'm not really comfortable with it going much faster than that. Now, if you ask about my BMW, that's another story.
