Doors for the '72
I have a '72 pig, and my driver's side front door is missing the wing window. i'd like to drop in a door from a later year that doesn't have the wing window (i don't really like them). will a later year fit? i looked at the door thread, but it was just talking about the 77 and 78 doors.

anything with a square top front corner will work. so pre 9/'77 should fit.
I am sure you can find a good pair of front doors around. beware of the lower hinge mounting area propensity to crack...

Yes, later doors will fit...up to a point. '73 & '74 will fit for sure. I forget when the door shape changed. '76?
But, are you sure you want the one-piece window? I had them on the '74 doors I started with. Hated them. Changed to wind-wings right away...

could not get those one-piece windows to roll all the way up when at speed...the air pressure either sucked 'em outward or pushed em in, I forget.
Nowadays, LCs have little plastic gizmos that guide the leading edge of the glass into the upper frame, but not back in the mid '70s.
Why do you hate wind-wings?

they're just extra uselessness. if i want air, i'll roll the window down. and they just seem to be in the way. and they break, etc. i like single windows, it's just a much simpler design. i didn't realize they had the problem at speed though on these old beasts. that's unfortunate.

I actually WISH i had the wing windows on my 55! Two of my past 55's had em. You can get air in without the whole window down... maybe thats because of the rain??? To each their own?
