Pass side slider is in!!!
Noah,
I'll find out what day would work. I'm going to do my best to keep the 45 if I can. If I can pull if off, I definitely will. I'm going to call Dom and see if he wants to come over and whomever else might want to do a "work on the cruzer night". I'll provide the place.
We just got the passenger side slider in and welded on both sides. I trimmed the body behind it to clean it up and more clearance. Now the drivers side. We did a patch job on the pass side door jam. I'll need to do some grinding to blend as best I can. I'll be in touch.
Later(and I don't like ham, but turkey-maybe)

FJ60 PS box location??
I'm putting a 60 series PS box on my 55. I've seen pictures of it done, but don't have measurements. It needs to clear the Coilovers I'm putting on the front. I don't know how critical the location is since I'm making my Tie Rods.

Thinking of a Grey Frame and axles, not Black.
I just did a rattle can test of grey on the frame. I think I'm going to get the frame, axles and rear springs done in some shade of grey. Everyone does Black.

Coilovers w/ a SUA setup? Surely you're kidding, right?

The springs will be gone. I'm going to run a 3-link up front and SOA in back. I just haven't got the springs removed yet. Just thinking ahead.

Been a while since I read your thread but you did mention that in the very 1st post. I'd go w/ the Saginaw Scout box rather than the 60 box as it's beefier. Progress is lookin

Finally got some time
Well, it's time to do the suspension. I've got it over at my buddy's Fab shop in Oceanside, and we're going to attempt a SOA rear and 3-link front. We've got the old rear out and need to fab up some mounts for the FJ62 springs going in the rear. I'll post more as we go.

Fantastic thread man! I love the history of this truck. How many times have you painted it? Just trying to finish my frame-off on my '72. Hope to keep it as long as you have yours.

Stu,
Well, It's been Primer Grey 3 time, Blue, Red, Greenish(all rattle can). Then I sprung for the $$ and had it done in Silver. That was 13 years ago now, so after I'm done with the resto, I'm shooting for a Silverish, Blueish, Greyish color of some kind. We'll have to see. Good luch on your project, and don't ever sell it, you'll regret it.
Later
Pat

Thanks Pat. Ain't that true! My wife says she'll never let me sell it either b/c then I'll want another one and do this all over again. I love your ragtop 55. Really looks cool. Could be neat in a stock-ish style two-tone. Anyway, mad props man.

Looks great. Love the history and the pics. That is a cruiser you will never sell. Be sure you take the time to treat the rust you expose when you open up those panels. You should also look into the penetrating oils and waxes that will stop that rust from coming back once you are finished. Here is a link to some of the discussion within my build and another on the subject. Good luck.

Great thread! Just sold a topless piggy to Hillbilly LX, hoping he'll get it back on the road. How about bright orange for the frame? Please keep the pic (old and new) coming, good inspiration!

Finally some metal fab
We'll we got some rear spring perchs mocked up and are probably going to modify the body mount back here. Not a problem though. Should have the rear done by the end of next week. Thanks to my buddies at Richer Racing in Oceanside for all the fab and support. I'll post em as I take em. Later all.
