My Name Is Dave..and I Own A Pig
Finally got around to getting a few pics posted. I work odd hours in a water treatment plant, do a little archaeology, and clear brush a lot so it takes me a while to do anything.
Engine compartment: It now has chrome exhaust headers...I know but its all TPI had at the time. The rest is the usual suspects. Wish I had DieselCruiserHead (Andre's tailgate). Will show interior in the future. Will post more pics when I get it to at least move. Getting close!
Thanks to N2666s and Trollholl (Lou and Marshall for their help).
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Dave
I, being an employee of a utility company, will work Turkey Day (no OT but will get some vacation time tacked on)

Personally, I think the fat Bassett Hound makes the picture. It's like a pig with a pig!!
The pig is lucky to have you, even if not on Turkey Day. Thanks for posting progress! Which utility company do you work for? We do a lot of work for utilities in GA.
Happy Turkey Day to you too!

Yeah Eeyore just smoked him a fat one and laid down to meditate. The rig needs a lot of work but whether they're wheelin' or resto'd its just cool to see one on the road. I work for our county (Floyd) water dept. treating water before it hits the distribution system. Otherwise I work for the Chieftains Museum (which is the fun job working with artifacts). Will continue with pics/progress as they come to light--dave

Hey Man,
Was thinking of you and your impending hospital visit...hoping all goes well and a speedy recovery. As for my tailgate....body is the usual but the guts are....well, you know. I was just lusting after the one Andre has for sale. Would be nice to have glass in it too!
Eric, Let me know if you need anything cause we look forward to new posts from you after the hospital visit--Dave

Looks pretty good to me Dave. What else do you need to do to get it on the road?
You're right about these things looking cool on the road regardless of being resto'd or wearing their multiple colors of rust, primer, and paint.
Now,more pics .

I think that Bassett looks like a beer drinker? Lost its will to hunt 'N jus' wants to hang around the pig...you got a cooler in the pig? Maybe some leaking beer cans?
Sent you a PM Dave.

Dave; glad to see that your piggy is coming along.....love that early grill with the turn signals; btw, did you ever find the head light bezels?........what is up with your tailgate?.....usually it is the plastic gear that is broken and it will bind.............have you been able to look into its mechanism?...happy turkey day and Chloe says hi

I'm sorry Dave, but that is one rough looking Pig (By Ca Standards). Maybe add some hubcaps, or go SOA. Yer choice. But paint that drivers door...
You need headlight bezels.

Pighead,
Now you know why I covet my brother's/sister's pigs. Its rough for sure but I do have a better drivers side door and a drivers side fender that can go on it.
Like me, its larger than life and twice as ugly! One day, when I meet some of you guys I will probably pass out from the niceness of your rigs.

It'l get there (that's what I keep telling myself as well). Not a lambo anyway...just a "good pig" that roots and grunts and forages hard.

Dave. Looks good. Rough but good. I think that is the way pigs are supposed to look. You get twice the bang for your buck.
First people see you driving an old beat up vehicle and then they realize they have never seen one like it. What really blows their mind is when they see the big TOYOTA letters on the tailgate.
Couple questions.
Do you have an air cleaner? If not I have the filter part for the Weber. I don't have the top but I do have the a filter. When I bought my second cruiser it came with a carb looking like yours with no top. So I bought one. I used a piece of sheet metal until it came in.
The filter is free if you need it.
Also I notice you don't have any mirrors. I have a set you can have. Only issue is the Mirror glass is missing. I'll see if I can get my wife to cut a few for you and you can glue them in. They won't be perfect but better than nothing.
Also what is wrong with your tailgate? If the window gear is bad you can just get a new gear from Toyota for around 25 dollars. If your motor is bad I have the whole motor mechanism your welcome to have. Also if you tailgate it complete shot I have one. I'll sell it to you for what I bought it for. I think it was 150.
It's in pretty good shape and has all the innards. I'm not sure if the gear is broken but 25 dollars and a few cuts on your arms and it would be good as new. I was planning on restoring it and selling it for a lot of money. But I need to spread some Cruiser Karma. I've got a bunch of other stuff. Just let me know.

Marshall,
I don't have a filter and I don't have any mirrors either. As for the tailgate, its as rough as the rest and I do have some guts for it in the shed (I did check my plastic gear which is surprisingly good I suppose). I will have to post pics of what I have existing in the tailgate and what is in the shed to ask you guys what I need. I think the biggest problem I have is the metal track for the glass inside the tailgate is just rust and totally frigged.
When you got my situation you really look at amby doors different (in a good way I mean). Thanks for your help. Just let me know what I owe you------dave

Marshall,
Is that a windsheild washer reservoir in that pic? Close to '74 vintage? Does it have any leaks? My washer bottle is cracked, let me know if yours is for sale...
PS: Dave, have you gotten your Basset's thyroid checked?
