I'd like to join as well...
I'd also like to help in any way I may be able. I am willing to pony up cash, help with research, whatever else I may be able to think of eventually. Oh, and of course, to help preserve our beautiful Land Cruisers. I'm real happy to see folks pulling their resouces and getting this done.

Anybody can join currently. We are just getting started. Once we have some of the details done we can decide who needs to be in and who would rather not.
See post #28 above for details.

I'd like to join in if I may. I've got a 78 FJ55 that I don't plan on getting rid of. I'd like to keep it on the road as long as possible.

Where it says "User CP" go in there, look for "Group Memberships" and put in your request to join.

FJ55 Products
Hi Marshall,
Good to see there is interest in PIG parts.
I have been off the Mud site for a few months. I have been very busy with my day job and family illnesses.
Before I got into the expensive hobby-business of getting parts made for Iron Pig, I was unaware of all the costs, manufacturing problems and lack of sales. The Parts business is really non-profit as PVCruisers found out. I am still having fun so I continue putting things together.
The weatherstipping business is really custom work when the part requires a 90 degree turn or metal inserts. My manufacturer thinks I under price all my products based on the complexity of the Toyota design.
The rear door's fixed window rubber is ready to go but boy were they pricey to reproduce. First I had to purchase two donor doors to get some good rubber. To answer your question about a group purchase. Sure it would be nice. I would have to be on a backorder purchase and plan on waiting 4 to 6 weeks for delivery in the USA. (Charles--Central America delivery takes longer) I can reduce the price up to 10% depending how many commited orders I get.
My parts business for a FJ55 is really custom work. Dies, extrusions, and assembly all cost money. To reduce costs a manuafacturer requires a 50 item minimum run, or 10,000 feet run. I worked out a per item deal. Before the oil price bubble, the price I paid was a set fee. Early this year, Chevron and Dupont doubled their rubber prices.
Last year I reproduced the vent window rubber and I sold very few sets.
What parts are you thinking of reproducing?
John

Hmmm no reply...guess that say's it.
Folks are still trying to do somethings. Notably, Charles is talking with Paul in Costa Rica...but there is no fire and no cohesive nature...too few pigs, too little money blah, blah....
Not to give up though.

I hope we're still committed to making this happen. I hope to visit with Paul again in a month or two and talk about long range tanks, fenders and quarter panels. Paul will make the whole panel or fender or whatever, NOT just patches. Hopefully I'll have something to report on in a month or two.
