In responce to your earlier remarks. Looks like it was certainly brown white from factory, painted red by a fleet owner then back to brown white before sale. I can see the brown in your roof pictures where it has been incorrectly painted white. Im a big fan of the brown white combo, so ugly, but looks tough!
every pig I have looked at locally has the same rust on the lower windscreen frame. The body seems to flex a lot in this area, those that havent been rusted were cracked right through.
I did see one a few weeks ago without rain gutters, didnt seem to have any problems other than it looked a bit gay. ( was actually offered it and a 45 series for 600 bucks, the pig had a PTO winch and disc brakes, I had no way to get it home, and it went to the scrapper that afternoon. )
The roof rot is very typical of our aussie pigs. I have NEVER seen one with it. Our old pig had no rust anywhere else at all, yet the roof was stuffed. Cant work out why.

Rarespares were doing 60 series replacement gutter sections. I wonder if these will fit onto a pig somehow. They had the gutter, and about 2 inches of roof section. would solve all your problems if they fitted.
I just went through all my old pic files, seen where I had pics of your rig saved from when it was listed for sale. Its all very inspiring. Just need to find someone that will swap my 45 series for a pig.

Nice job uncovering all that rust! Yep, many pigs rust in the same places, unfortunately. Keep us posted with all of your progress. Rare Spares still has some replacement sheet metal still available for our pigs, but I have not seen any gutter/roof sections sold by them. If you speak with them and they do have some roof/gutter panels, please be sure to share the info with the rest of us here. Many of us have the same rust issues...

ok so i have been super slack lately with updating , cos it all seems small and insignificant to me but hey ill try be a little more diligent . doesnt help that i have lost the internet at home (where all my pics are) so i have been lurking online at work on nightshift. but a few little things i have done:
-I pulled off the front bull bar and the side steps for one, it looks a whole lot better with just those little things done
- made some tow hitches for the front out of 16mm (i think thats 5/8") plate and 'found' a few 19mm bow shackles at work to suit
- cut some of the rust out of the floor on the drivers side, and found a krap load of rust on the inside of the rockers, thinking sliders are the go now. got a few ideas here i might start a new thread with them and see what others think
- pulled the floor mats out, wire brushed the floors and painted in rattle can primer to prevent surface rust.


i also picked up a 4 15x7 or 8" black sunrasier rims with a set of 31" TSL's at a local garage sale (??yard sale??) for $50. tyres are stuffed but the rims are sweet. i also started the recovery equipment collection with a 4tonne exhaust jack and a few 9 tonne snatch straps.

hey guys its well and truely time to post some more pics and let you guys know where im at

these pics are of the right hand foot well. not too bad actually body mount is still pretty intact. just the floor itself.

first is the hole i cut to remove the rut back to clean, weldable metal.


second is of my method of holding the new patch in place and flush as i welded it. what methods did u guys use? i was not sure how to do this....


and finally the slow tedious task of tacking it in place.

i dont have any pics yet but i also bought a H (3.6L not the 4.0l 2H) diesel to go into the "Hazard Box" as i have now coined her/it. wil need to take some more pics. last few days have been prepping to rempoe the 2F, which is a bit of a shame as it sounds like a sewing machine... but i will use that in another cruiser i recently purchased. what else...

few none cruiser related dramas. we had monster rain storm here in june that put a few inches of water thru the bottom level om y house... here is a few pics of the local park for a bit of an idea. mum passed away in may so have had to try and sell all her stuff and what not. found a wall down stairs had termites/white ants al thru it so had to demolish and spary that area. been happening here i can tell you that. we even had a dust storm the other day, never had one quite like it. were told to stay indoors because of how thick it was, red skies and choking dust, yet i again didnt take any pics... silly boy. haha end of the non-cruiser related stuff... ill get some more pics os stuff i have done the next few days and post up some more. thanks for reading..

Sorry to hear about all the bad news you have been having mate. Not good.
We got the dust storm too. We got rain with it, which turned all our tank water to mud! It stained everything.

Seems the rust repairs are coming along nicely.

Just a thought on your H motor swap.

Go and drive a 45 with a H motor in it before commiting to it.
They are a good strong motor, but as slow as a wet week. Getting to 85-90 kmh takes about and hour and would be flat out at full noise. (I know a bloke who do it and just wished he kept the 2F and put it on gas) If I were going to go to all the effort to put a diesel in id go straight to a 2H. just my .02 to take or leave.

it was on there when i bought it... but im pretty sure any sticker mob could make one up pretty easy
