And your front seat and head rest? You have a pretty rare set of head rests. I'd love to see what they look like.
You also have an option we didn't get in the US and thats the lights below the reverse lights. In the US we got reflectors.
I'm also betting you have the little extra bulbs in the brake lights.

Picked up the FJ55 and drove the just over one hour drive to Geelong to meet up with some friends. Then drove one hour to the ferry and took the 11 hour ferry ride to Devonport. Then the one hour drive back to Launceston. So in just over 24 hours I got the 55 back home!
I have been a HJ60 owner for a few years now and have always had a soft spot for them - so I bought one!
Here's some pics;
Existing 60;
New 55;
Interior;
Little bit of rust;
All in all I'm rather happy with my purchase. It doesn't have too much rust in it. After taking three 1 hour drives in it though I know that I want power steering. Also will get some greaseable shackles and pins and probably some Bilstein shocks. Front disc brakes would be nice too. Other than that just clean up the bodywork a little.
I need a big shed now!

Beautiful! Welcome to the sty...

Hi Troll, sorry I only just discovered that some posts had been made to this thread. Here are the pics you were after;
Hand throttle;
Where the PTO lever was (been removed now). It looks as though there was a factory cut hole there with a plate covering it up;
Headrests;
Rear lights;

I happy to report that I did some work on the 55 today! First time in ages. My mate Steve (uted) came around today and we removed the PTO and winch. I am swapping it for some parts as well as some of Steve's panel beating skills!
I've had a new muffler installed and had the LPG (propane) system completely removed. Also had the brakes adjusted.
I removed a leaf (the second shortest) from the front springs packs. I thought it was a little stiff. The front end dropped approximately 25mm. After removing the winch and front bar it came back up about 12mm. So it should be about right now. 5 leaves in the front and 6 in the rear. I'm not sure if the rear is too soft now, I'll just have to see how it goes.
Steve managed to scrounge an air cleaner assy to fit to the 2F. Now it should pass the registration inspection (mental note: put oil in transfer case!).
Pics;
Can anyone tell me what the bracket beside the air cleaner is for?
I received a PM from Simon in Melbourne (sjc096) the other day saying that he test drove this 55 when it was for sale 4 years ago. He said that it had seats mounted along the sides in the rear. That would explain what these holes are for;
It also looks as though there may have been a large water tank mounted underneath that has now been removed. It must have been one tough (heavy) vehicle in its time as at some stage it also had siderails.

I'll keep an eye out for you, but the 55 is rare in Aus as well and of the few I have seen locally, they don't have the ambi doors. Will let you know what I see around.....

Troll,
I took pics of my head rests when they were out while the front bench got re-upholstered.
I can post.
(Yes, I know I still owe you pics of the PTO set-up!)

I have a couple of original FJ55 brochures from 1977 and 1978. They list the Standard FJ55RV-KQ and the Swing Out Rear Doors FJ55RV-KCQ. So it seems that the swing out rear doors were an option, hence there should be less of them.

Tropical Roof
As well as the above 1978 options included;
Long Range Fuel Tank
Warn Highmount Winch

Bit of an update of the 55. I bought a Sony MP3 head unit to put in. Started to pull the old stereo out and realised it was mess under the dash - wires everywhere. I decided to remove the wiring that was no longer used. I ended up removing 18 metres of wire (not including old speaker wire) and 4 switches. Some of it was off the old LPG installation and others must have been driving lights and god knows what else.
The old stereo was a replacement unit that wasn't working. The original Toyota stereo was only 6.5"x2" instead of the more common DIN 7"x2". Some PO has hacked the dash panel to make the DIN size stereo fit. I have now decided that I am going to track down an original FJ55 stereo (or at least one out of a 60 series) that will fit straight into the new dash panel that I will find 2nd hand in pristine condition! Then I will mount the new stereo either under the front bench seat or in the glovebox.
Oh yeah, it is now registered with custom number plates;
Hacked dash;
Old wiring!

Not too much has happened with the 55 in the last 4 months. It hasn't even been started as I still have the dash panel pulled apart. I managed to get a 2nd hand dash panel that did not have the radio opening butchered. Thanks to Steve (uted). Alas I have not yet fitted it....
But I managed to find a guy in Queensland who was wrecking one. So I picked up some front guard vents, a fuel tank and a power steering box. Yep, a genuine FJ55 power steering box. I was quite happy about this, especially seeing as though I only paid $50 for it. Unfortunately the box turned up in parts. Cost me $550 to have it rebuilt. I also picked up a power steering pump and bracket off a 3F and fitted it up. I had Enzed call out yesterday and they fitted up the hoses for me.
I just got a belt from the local auto parts and put it on. I haven't had a chance to drive it as yet. I have to get the dashback in. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

 I guess you don't have any RHD Saginaw boxes as those would be way stonger & cheaper? I recently revised my dash panel & noted you'll need a very shallow stereo that'll fit in that space cuz a standard size depth will hit the wiper linkage. Those barn doors are sweet mate!

A RHD 55 PS box - cool!!!
FWIW, I would have spent the $550 to rebuild vs. putting a saginaw box on a Pig.
Did the 3F pump fit right on the alternator mounting holes of a 2F head?

I don't actually know what a Saginaw box is..... I originally bought a Hilux (Mini Truck) box which is basically the same as a 55 box, but the mounting flange is on a different angle. It was so much easier not to have to butcher the shock mount, so it was kind of cheap in the end.
I plan to fit a AM/FM radio from a 60 series in the dash panel - if I can find one - seems as though most people (myself and my dad included) tossed their old radios and updated to something more modern.

Hi and thanks! The 3F pump bolted right up, no problem. The 2F pump has the pressure outlet facing towards the firewall and the 3F pump has it pointing towards the drivers side (or passenger side in your case). I think that is the only difference.
