Scuff Plates
Eric, I understand, I've ordered a few extra sets just in case but the min order is $300 bucks so I doubt I'll do this again or have the interest. So I have a set on the burner for you if you change your mind.

Lou,
Thanks, I think I will take a set. Gives me something while I am running. The remake may take 2 months or who knows. Charles will work on the project more when he gets back to Guatemala. So, PM me when you are ready for payment.
Eric.

Scuff Plate Porn Issues
We'll, finally got the scuff plates and they looked great until I got home and compared them to the sample I made, they are not even close, to wide, to tall and the wings are to short. I'm pissed, but I'm pissed at myself for not asking for a sample or double checking the measurements. I"m having them remade, sorry for the delay.

55 scuff plates have arrived
The correct scuff plates have arrived and they look great, the finish is kind of spider webbed and will take paint or powder coat or as shown in the pictures, a little wet sanding and steel wool with Mothers polish and you get a nice smooth finish and took about 5 min to do.
The price is still $30.00 plus shipping but if you send $40.00 plus shipping I will include a set of the scuff plates that are a bit taller, this will give you a set to try different finishes so you don't muck up the good ones. I will PM everyone who said they were in or PM me with your info and I can get them out this week.
If anybody else would like a set I will have a few extra's, so let me know, it will be first come first serve.
You can PayPal me , Lbrown@lindsaylexus.com or send me a check to

I believe I have finally figured out how to make up the copies of the OEM sill/scuff plates with the radius curve. I will be experimenting over the next few weeks with both aluminum and stainless sheet and I'll post up pictures of what I come up with.

Got mine... both the "correct" version and the "tall/wide" version. Look VERY good. I might end up using the "tall/wide" version to fit my bonus wires
Now I just need to figure out what to do with my floor

The cut
Looks like the Piggy Parts are arriving, please let me know if there are any issues.
FYI in an earlier post I discussed that those with factory front floor boards may have to cut the scuff plates on the inside front corner to avoid the bead roll. Here's a picture showing the cut.
Looking forward to see how you each decide to finish them, Paint, powder coat, natural etc....

Reviving an old thread!!
I finally have been able to get a partial sheet of aluminum (I've been riding our messenger guy hard on this for the last few weeks, asking him almost daily) so I will be working on reproducing the scuff plates as near as possible to the OEM ones that Eric so graciously sent me over a year ago. If it works well I'll post up pictures and if you want them, they'll be made available. They will be the same, or close to the same gage aluminum as the originals and they will have the same form as well. I couldn't find anyone in the city who would take this on (not a big enough job I suppose) so I'll be giving it a shot.
Eric, I'll be sure to bring your old ones, and a new set, up this summer.

No rush on my part...this last 9 months has seen very little cruiser time out of me (in fact none I think). BTW- if you are likely to stay the night you will be relieved to know that the torture rack will be gone and replaced by a quality FUTON with quality Mattress.

Here's my first feeble attempt at making these up. I'll be working to perfect the shape and style.
What is the thoughts of the pig farmers?

In the picture the lower one is the OEM one and the upper is my copy. I need to work on more gradual curves in each of the bends. At least I have a plan at this point and more importantly, aluminum to work with!!

Here's another picture. The plates with holes are the OEM ones from Eric which I am using as a model. The rest are my copies. These are just the rear doors as my bender is not large enough for the front doors but now that I have a plan I'm going to see if I can get a local place to bend them and then I'll put on the curve at each end.
The one on the left and the one second from right are my good copies, the one second from the left was my trial pictured earlier (I didn't get the bends as gradual as I wanted). These will not have any holes drilled as different year piggies had the wiring harness on different sides.
Who all wants a set? Eric gets one for sure for his trouble in getting the OEM ones to me, I'm making one for myself. I'm thinking they will be $60/set + $5 shipping and shipping will be in June when we get stateside. PM me for details.
Once the aluminum I have is gone I won't be making more of these. It was a real challenge to get the aluminum in the first place!

OK, those who would like a set will need to PM me and pay so I can be sure to recover costs. These will all ship in mid-June.
I'll post pictures once I have a complete set in my truck. So far they look like they will fit very nicely catching the pinchweld moulding but leaving the rubber exposed to seal the door just like OEM!
Now I'm off to make a few more to improve my abilities!!
