Lou it is looking nice. How does the hood fit with the RamJet? I had to track down a late model hood for the extra clearance. Towerpaint is a pretty good company to work with, maybe we could get a discount if we could get a group buy ;-) I am probably going to buy another 15-20 cans from them so that I can wet sand my truck and respray it. Can't wait to hear that thing fire up. When do you plan on installing the interior? I am really excited to see how everything comes together.

Not sure on the clearance. I need to call Lance and have him check it. As for Tower Paint I called to buy the paint , they know you well. Ryan if your going to repaint your truck, let me check with our bodyshop, if it's just paint.would it not be cheaper to pay an have it shot in a paint booth? If you prep it,sand and tape off they could paint it in an hour or less. Hey before you have your panels done you should Dyna Pad the panel before they cover them. It will replace the foam they use a will help with sound deadening, I will redo my panels and use the Dyna Pad. I purchase three boxes if you want to sample let me know will meet up here.

Rear Bumper, Gauges and Header Pic's
I decided to power coat my bumper gray, going for an old school look, Well , it came out looking more like high gloss primer,so it's going back and will get the Hammertone Color. I also got my gauges installed into the 55 gauge cover by triming the inside rim area. There is a metal ring under the vinyl so I had to stop at the metal and shoved the gauges in from the front, The bottom of the gauges stick out about 1/4 inch but look good. Future plan is for a custom dash using the tubed air vents from the FJ Cruiser.

Once again everything is looking very nice. I really like the gauges, they have a classic old school look. Whats the story on the headers? I can't remember if your ram jet had manifolds. Are these headers just to make routing the exhaust easier? What ever the reason they do look sweet.
Ryan.

header's
TLC recommend the Sanderson, they hug the motor I assume for that reason plus they look good. I also installed new dash pad from SOR what a pain just getting to the bolts, had to remove the glove box for to two above it. With the box out I sanded primed and painted gloss black also removed the hinge and the metal glove box door plate which I aslo painted and will bolt on a new glove box door also from SOR.

I asked the wife for a raise a few months ago, she said no way cause I spend too much time in the garage as it is. If she gives me more money, I'll buy more toys and never leave the garage!

That looks great! I am really impressed how nice the front bumper looks. Keep up the good work. You are going to have one of the nicest 55 around.

Wow, things are looking good Lou!
One quick question, though (because I truly don't know)... does the access cover on the rear driver's trim panel go on the 'outside' of the panel, instead of bolting behind it?
I just assumed that the access door was to allow you to access the fuel filler pipe without having to remove the trim panel, whereas with it screwed in from behind it might be a little more difficult to remove.
Like I said, though, when I got my pig the access door was already off and laying in the cargo area, so I'm relatively clueless.
Those bumpers are awesome! Keep the pix coming.

I don't know , never thought about it. If you did have a problem with the fuel filler pipe you would most likley want to remove the whole panel just to have better access. I don't remember, the panels where removed a long time ago and brought back finished.

lou, the truck is looking just awesome, wonderful job!
I really like the way you did the guages, i wanted to do the same to my 55 and was wondering how to do so. Can you post up exactly how you got them to fit? did you just trim out the inner portion of the circle to fit and push them in from the front? Also, what holds them in? just a press fit? or did you fashion something to attache them to the back of the pad? Also, what type of guages are they and where did you get them?
Thanks!
Noah

Noah I use a razor knife and trimed the inside ring of the pad down to the metal ring, trim very carefully, the ring under the pad limits the size, so the gauges stick out about 1/4 inch at the bottom. They fit tight but the plan is to fab a small bracket on the back, they clear the dash supports behind the pad. I got them here www.haneline.com . BTW your resto is looking good ......if I had the time , tools, a garage and few more dollars, I would do a frame off like yours but Lance at IPOR said he would cut off my left n...t if I get anymore idea's, so maybe next year. Here's the pic of the gauges, you can see how they stick out just a little at the bottom but from the driver's seat, front veiw you don't notice. The link to Haneline is not working so try this www.roddoors.com this works, go to products and gauges, I'm not sure what's up with Haneline's web page...

Here's a few more pic's , I also attached the rear seat that I had recovered using matching vinyl. They did a great job matching the front seat pattern
