Rust!!!

I've been testing this primer on several surfaces out side and I have got to say that it works better than the rust converter paints that I have used. I have repainted my towing hitch, some outdoor gas piping, the battery tray on a Tercel and some rusty metal that I just left out in the weather. It's still holding up after a year!!

I've used it on the floor boards of the Pig also, and I hope to see the same results there. I bought a quart of roll on or brush on paint for $7.

Anyone else use this?

Howdy! Yea, I have used it with pretty good results, but I prefer the Permatex Rust Treatment. I comes in spray or brush on. It has a chemical reaction whenever it gets in contact with iron oxide (rust) and converts it to something inert. I did the back half of my mini truck frame with this stuff about 6 or 7 years ago, and it is still nice and shiney black, with no rust showing. John

Thanks! I tried the Permatex and it didn't seem to work well. Maybe I didn't prep it enough or lay down enough to convert the rust.

Howdy! I did a lot of prep work trying to get rid of as much rust as possible. For me, the big trick was doing the first coat REALLY light. I think it has to be thin enough to "breath" so it can start reacting. Just spray on enough to make it tacky. Wait a few minutes, and then start putting on a normal coat. I have also used it to seal/fill on welds that I don't want to try to grind down pretty. John
