Quick ? for the swine-sperts
Before I hop in the shower and go to dinner...I have a question. The past three plus days I have been assaulting my pig..I've taken Pigwald down to bare metal. (I'll post progress pics in a few days). Now I notice many pigs painted with color on the roof top (ie. not white from the fender line up). Now as I progressed down through the paint..it appears that my top (everything above the usual fender line break) was white. I am assuming that is the way it came. Sort of like the photos of Rush's piggie..only in the blue (267) down low and white. Anyone able to confirm this ? I have some time before Pigwald sees the paint, I just want to bring it back as it was.

As far as I know, the roof was always painted the color on top. I'll probably leave mine white, though...

I haven't gotten to my paint yet but it is wearing away and chipping in places. My top has white under the blue on the top too. I just assumed it was easier to shoot all white first then mask for the blue rather than mask twice. Just a thought.

I have also been doing a little grinding on the roof and noticed the white. I figured it may just be a base/primer coat, since I couldn't really see a color under it.

todd there was original blue paint up there when i got it, same fade and everything as the lower body. iffin i ventured a guess i would say they shot the whole top in white, then shot body color over the white on the roof??? it would explain the white under the factory looking blue.

Thanks Clay...now it makes sense what I was knocking through with the 8" DA...as the white was the last thing before a very thin primer...then the shiny steel. Whoever the PO that put those rivnuts in the roof for bolting a rack....oooo baby I was cursing them. I ended up screwing some all thread down in them past flush and then welding them up...grinding and filling and cursing....much cursing
