55 part price estimates

Might be parting out a 55. Not sure if it's worth the time and I'm basically looking to break even and keep a few small pieces for myself. That said, can you give me some approximate values for the following items? Wanna see if I'll be throwing $$$ away by doing this.

Frame (clean, no rot)
Roof (no rot but some dents on the top)
dash and dash pad (mint)
door panels (clean, no rips)
windshield (no cracks)
front seat
rear seat
window glass (no cracks)

Any other pieces of value I'm missing? Floors, hood, doors and panels are rusted.

Thanks!
John

Possible value depending on if someone nearby needs it. It's too expensive to ship.

Mint OEM dash pads and dash might be worth something, more if it is an early dash pad.

Door panels if they are straight and without speaker holes should be worth something.

Are the springs good or are they saggy, how about the cover, any rips, they must be in excellent shape to be considered at all.

Glass is tough to ship anywhere but might be worth something to folks who need it. '55 glass is available though from wrecked trucks.

Electical switches from anywhere in the truck are worth something. Things like the tailgate lockout switch and that which are tough to find in decent shape.

Thanks for the responses. I could use some $$$ estimates as I am trying to add this all up and see if it's worth getting, parting out, and breaking even. Hadn't thought about the switches. Door panels don't have speaker holes as I recall. It is an early dash pad

Your line above confused me a bit. Is the pig frame of value or no?

thanks!

the above are my estimates...shipping is what will usually kill most of the deals...

bk's probably not far off though I think the value in the frame is only as scrap iron 'cause they don't seem to rust badly and therefore are not in demand other than a VIN numbered buggy starting point.

I'd probably value the dash pad higher than $50 though, more in the $100 and up range.

Gonna call the guy today. My real life business employment job type company that I own is a bit of a mess at the moment so haven't been focusing on this. I have a plan B which might work well for everyone.

Got cargo panels by chance? If so, I'd like to get them.

I found out that there are at least three different front door trim panels for the FJ55. I'm looking for a set of panels without any speaker holes that match these.

It's a 1971. Looks like I'm going to scavenge parts off the pig then the rest goes to the junkyard. No idea when I'm going to go down there or even how to pull half the stuff off the rig.

No insult intended but take a 3.6v or 6 volt little driver...really speeds the bolt pulling, a hand impact (unless you hve a battery portable impact), breaker bar and all the nice little metric 8-19mm sockets. panel removal tool, big prybar, PBblast or the like. Phillips and flatheads of course. Needle nose as well.

Make a battle plan if you are on limited time and target what you most need. Things like fenders eat up a lot of time. BTW, take a seperate 12 Volt Battery if you have one to lower the TG glass...even if you have to climb in and jump the wires directly to the TG.

All messy...but at least you will not be like me...keeping an eye trained for rattlesnakes.

***Add to that two lengths of wire (12 or whatever) to make the jump from battery to rear window motor if from tg entry. phillips and flat head for driver as well.

And keep all of those odd little screws and clips etc...come to find out later one day when you are working on your LC that you wish you had not thrown them on the floorboard of the vehicle you were stripping. And how would I know that?

Ha! No rattlesnakes up here in MA! Mice and garter snakes are the worst I'll see. I have a manual on the truck so if I get stumped I'll be able to figure it out. I'm leaving all the sheet metal. Thanks for the tips!

I'm guessing the reason that the early dashes are so valuable is because they don't have dash caps, huh? I like the cap on my '77...

my business is falling a part so not sure when I'll have time to pull everything. Not a top priority now. Might go down there just as a stress reliever and grab the parts. I'm gonna do it at some point, please be patient

definitely not project worthy. I have zero time to get down there. I'll call the guy and see if he wants me to pass along his phone # for parts
