'74 pig...part out or sell (?) in So Cal
***Update: 04/24/09....SOLD....and going to a great home to get fully restored....***
I bought this '74 pig out near Death Valley. It is a one owner rig with original blue plates and runs (don't know how well). It has a baked dash/interior from sitting in the desert, but there are lots of good parts on her. I started breaking everything down, but that's as far as I got. All original except for a sag manual conversion (I even have the original keys on the original key ring). I discovered lots of rust in the rockers and front fenders and the rear of the roof, but the floors are VERY, VERY clean and cancer free (some minor surface rust only). The rear tailgate is good (rubbers are shot) and the window functions flawlessly. All glass is original and in good shape, as are the door panels, floor mats, etc. I've already pulled off all the lenses, door handles, etc to keep them from getting broken....
I've come to realize that I just don't have the time to put into this rig and need to get rid of her. The won't mind having it gone from the back yard either.....
I know these don't have a very high resale, but would be open to parting it out....if there is interest, I'll start posting parts in the classified section. Let me know....

rusviking - Honestly, I'm new to parting a vehicle out.....don't want to ask an unfair price (too high or low), so PM me with an offer and we'll go from there. Besides the handle, what parts are you referring to?

what motor does she have?.........74s are the cream of the crop IMHO; with the 1 1/2 motor and 4 speed......this is a very decent low rust looking pig; heck, it is soo much better than anything we have here in the southeast; be a shame to part her; look at what eventhough has done to resurrect the "beast" it can be done and this baby looks a lot better than what he I started with..........it can be brought back to life.....just my 0.02

Gonna hold out for a few days to try to sell this rig as a whole. If that doesn't happen, she'll go to parts and I'll be in touch with several of you. $1000 for the truck as she sits.....any takers? I have one considering, but nothing solid yet.....

Lou - she has the original F 1.5 (F engine with 2F oiling system), 4 spd, drums - the dash is pretty toasted from living in the desert most of her life. I'll get up some more pics ASAP.....

Damn, this is a nice pig and with a 1 1/2 F Motor that I love.......have had a 74 with that motor and a 78 with the 2F and there is just something about the
F 1 1/2 that feels different; subjectivelly more torque and response; maybe the the cyl. configuration; heck I don't know what it is; the F 1 1/2 just feels right...this baby is screaming for a good home; if it was a 73 or a 75 would not be sad for it to be parted...but this is a different animal just my 0.02
Lou
P.S. dash caps are available

Thanks for the tout, Lou! Yes, I really hate to part a vehicle. In fact, this is the first time that I've even considered it. I know she needs some work, but she's got a lot of good points to her. Just need someone with your love of the '74 and about $1000 to shell out....there's gotta be someone out there....

cruzer guy - thanks for the inquiry. still available, but grncobra is gonna come up friday to look at it, so you'd be second in line, but I would not go down to $700....gonna be firm at $1000. if you'd like to look at it in person (since you're only in riverside) let me know.... thanks again, greg
