got some time in on wilma finally... back from a long vacation and now i need some quality cruiser time. was mostly workin on the rear quarter panels stuff. got the new metal welded in and ground down then leveled it all with kitty hair. must have done 30 different coats and sanded it down then did another 5 coats or so of sandable primer and snaded it down and last shot a coat of epoxy primer..
again my pics aren't great but you get the idea.

ok here are some side shots but i saved them for this post in that i also decide d to stick one of my 285 r16 tire wheel combo's on. these wheels are 16x8 widen wheels with hubcap clip centers. i geuss i should have put the hub cap on for the pics. anyway a) you can see my new rear quarter. but b) you see the tire wheel.

here is my question though. as you see the tire barely clears the front fender. but right now the body is on 2x4's the body is about 3 1/2 inches above the frame. for those of you running 33" or larger tires, How much lift do you have to clear the fenders? i will run my 31"s at first when it first gets ont he road but my plan is to run 33" or 34" nothing bigger. oh the tires stick out about an inch so....

Ok its been awhile since I have updated the thread. not much really to reposrt been away most of the weekends until this one.was able to get my new shackels on the front end but got the right info to put the right ones on therear. also got the tranny crossmember mounted right and centered. took anumber of hourse to drill upsided down through my angle iron.
i also got my dash peice welded in just needs to be ground down and i will get pics up. collected a bunch of parts and stuff expect my carb and distributor this week so it will be nice to get the engine stuff squared away.

ok took some pics today of my junk. ofcourse it would have been better to take before during then after but I did take some shots during todays work but I will explain what I did. or you can go to Matt's thread for a better example

anyway Foxfab gave me a hole dash panel peice (just the ribbing) but I decided to just use a square section of it. I cut the entire lame section out and just patch it in. the first 2 pics are reposts then I will post how I went about it and a couple shots toward the end of the project.

Ok what I did was get some kewl new vice grips that are like 2 feet long. I cut the new square peice and evened it all out with a grinder so it was square(fow gave me a starfish shaped thing

)
so then I placed the new patch over where it was going to go and traced around it. then used Matt's most excellent explination of how he cuts body panels and put a 4 1/2" diameter 1/8" thick cutting wheel on my grinder and cut inside my lines then used matter moer on the grinder and a stone on the die grinder to get it so the piece fit in the whole a bit looser than snug. then used my new 2 foot vice grips and a pair of clamps and clamped so alluminuim bar stock behind the seams (Idon't think Matt does this he is better at it than i ) so now the new bpice is sitting flush with the rest of the dash with space all around it meaning it was not touch the dash board but is set up for me to weld the pieces together.
so I switched to .030 from .023 wire and had great results I tacked it here and there then would weld the seam about a 1/2 - 1/4" at a time. then ground it down with a flapper wheel. then put on a coat of mud and sanded most of it off. the last pic is the 4th coat of mud with will get sanded down next time i am out there. it doesn't really need the mud but i want it to look seamless.

i know it has been awhile since i updated progress on Wilma. i kind of got excited that the floors were guna be made and got it in my head that I should wait until they get here.....
so i got busy on some other projects. mainly doing a SOA on my CDN M101 1/4 ton trailer. while i am happy with the lift not sure i like the bs on the wheels on there now. might try the wheelsthat are on my fj62 they have 5.25bs to see how they look. plan is to tear it all down again and pait it to match the lv.... should be cool plus I can see it painted and make sure that is the color i want for the lv. anyway here is a link tot h pics. figured not to fill up the thread with non Wilma pics.

well not a hole lot done in the last 10 days since i updated last. i did get the rear shackles on. and I got my carb and disribtor back this afternoon from TLC Performance. I hope to get those and the engine all put back together this week end so I can rap it up for paint. i started leveling some of the other body parts like the front fenders and rear lift gate and everything else that is not attached to the tub. plan is to get them all leveled and straight then paint the insides and jam the edges so when I reassemble everything i am ready just to do the final coat.this way I can see my colors and make sure I like them

. still not sure i am going to do the final color coats but will see how the jamming goes and if i get a good feel for shooting color.

I wish i was faster at this but I'm pluggin away makin progress.

I got some time in on Wilma today. it was fun hagin out in my garage with 60 mph winds howling about. I was able to get the cab distributor , headers, and intake manifold all back on. and change out the airrailfittings for allen head plugs. that went to gether nicely so i started on some more body panels stuff
was able to sand down and prime again the rear hatch anthe aprons and the front bib. i got a coat of the extreme chasis black ont he backs of fthe aprons and the bib. needs anothr coat and they should be all set for jamming the rest.

go some paint on the front bib and jammed some bottom color parts. pulled up the cover and kind of sat the bib on the front crossmember to give me anidea of how it wil look. the first pic it is a bit washed out in the second pic the color is a better match to the real thing

its been a few weeks since i last updated the thread. been busy building a stone retaining wall and steps and getting a bunch of related but non wilma things taken care of.
i sold my 25 gallon compressor and bought a sears 60 gallon compressor but am still waiting for he manual to be sent to me in that it did not come with one

i did not realize how much i relie on my compressor.
i did go to fox's place and used his cabnet to blast some small parts and pick up my fzj80 wheels which will prolly go on my fj62 and the fj62's wheels will then go on the lv (they are widen moonies). that seems to be the plan but to get there i have sold a set of my widened 16x8 moonies and still need to do a big tire swap aroo!
i have been working on he tail gate patched in some new metal then have been leveling it out.
itching to shoot color but decided to wait until all the body work is done....

Ok I have cleared the garage of my ohter cruiser projects and now plan on spending some quality time with Wilma. although I have been building a field stone wall and regrading the side yard which is a bit more of a project than I thought it would be but aren' they all
Anyway I am getting the doors back together and leveled and need to get a few more peices of weater stripping. so far I have the front windsheild gasket and2 others for the rear side windows and the vent window rubbers. I also searched and found and ordered the door weather stripping from JCWhitney today
so all I need now is
all four window felts
and the rear hatch gasket (I think this is the same as the fj40 rear hatch???)
and the rear hatchtailgate opening weather stripping.
any help with these part numbers or sources would be extremely helpful

Everything I ordered for Weathstripping I ordered from JC whitney. I posted some part #'s on my 65 lv thread towards the end I think for Mark, I'm going to have to look though?

Should have the part #'s for the window felts and the rear hatch.

I'll see if I can find it.

there where only a couple of numbers posted and they were not the exact format the JCW ues, but I did figure one out. Matt, can you look back thru your receits or call JCW and get a history of what you ordered? They have a million different moldings so it will be tough to figure out just looking on line.

you did post some numbers, but I remember when I went to JCW web site, the numbers you gave were in a shorter format than what there search feature used so I was only able to find one of them. Last word was you were going to try to call JCW and get them to give you your purchase history. I will see what I can find on my end b/c I think I saved it or BMed it. I will repost if I find anything.

I got hosed at the drive-thru with TLC and window felt. Supposedly sent 2 in a PVC tube, when it showed up it was empty. I called and after a few minutes of bantering back and forth the guy on the other end pretty much said.....oh well........

So......no window felt was ever used from TLC....nor will it ever be used for that matter. I realized then that I would have to figure it out on my own and go through JC whitney.

I will goto work on on some part #'s and see what I can come up with from JC.......

you guys are great sorry I ahave been MIA fro a few days the flu has run its way through my house and it seemed it got worse as it went and of course I was te last to get it.

I search the middle of Matt's thread pages 40-80 and did window felt searches and came up with the door weather stripping if are able to add a sticky we should prolly add the vent window and windsheild as well.

I have made some progress on Wilma. for the year I have owned her this is the first time I have gotten a door on her.

I have finished up the body work on the rear doors and tailgate and am starting on the front doors now. plan is to finish the body work hang them and finish off any for body work and get the paint line then get them off and jam them and paint the inside and put them away safe in the basement until the floors are done and the inside is painted.
but i am happy to be reesembleing the old girl for the time being anyway.
I have my work cut out for me getting the window hoops reinstalled. all of the hoop mounting studs snappe off either before dissasembly or during. I have all new harware.
those that are fabricators tell me if this sounds kosher. my plan is to dril out the studs on the hoops and tap the hole. cut the head off the new bolt and using the double nut technique threa the new stud intot he freshly tapped hole. then either a small tach weld orjb weld it. I suppose a pic or 2 of what i am talking about would help will take one at lunch.
anyway here are some pics of the doors on
