Does anyone know if Steve was able to reproduce the OE metal hangers for the rear mudflaps?

stolen from this thread

Thanks Landpimp!

If anyone has these pieces, let me know. I will see if I can reproduce them...

Mike,

If you have a pic of a stock rear flap installed I would love to see it? I have looked at the rear and there must be some sort of bracket that kicks it to the rear further???

Thanks, Matt

That rear mudflap bracket looks similar to those in the wheelwells of a mid-80s minitruck/Hi-lux - 2WD. You might be able to use a minitruck part as a starting point to fab something, or at least as an idea-generator.

Hi Shane,

Yes, I'm here, I can hear you....

Not much really going on to report on the lv. I've done a little tinkering here and there, but nothing really to report on. I actually did however start working on my A/C lines tonight. We have an AC line crimper at work that they use for tractor AC stuff. I was using that this evening cutting and crimping all my lines. Actually got all the lines done, are AC guy was getting ready to charge the system and I have a leak in my condensor. I pulled it out this evening and hoping to get it aluminum welded tomorrow, get it back together. Kinda sucked because I had to pull the front bib back off to get at the condensor.....oh well.

Few glamour shots from the 4th of July....drove up to a town 20 miles away for an evening fireworks display. Few shots at about 7:30 pm next to the lake

Last pic is what my wife has had me doing for the last few weeks.......man does that stuff suck

Got a little done on the lv today.....and I stress little I actually worked on that 75 vette most of the weekend.

Got my shifter floor boots installed around the auto stick and the T case stick, few shots. I had to heat the T-case aluminum shifter ring with the acetalene torch and bend the aluminum to fit the tranny hump.

Shot of my A/C lines all crimped up and the lower attachment point on the condesor TIG welded up. Bringing it into town tomorrow, my auto mechanic buddy was over thies weekend. Said to bring it in Monday morning and so he can get the A/C charged. He was kinda excited to do it, so I figure I better get it in there

Incredible final product. You are quite the master with the metal. It is nice to see someone besides TLC turn out a truely beautiful LV. You have been and will continue to be a huge inspiration for my personal project. And when I look at all the cash I am pouring into this LV, I know who is to blame. That is a compliment. Thanks for everything you have done to make all our lives a little better and entertain us all. Good luck with your next venture. Regards, Mark

Just a quick update on the A/C.

Got it charged today..........28 F....... Just as it's approaching a 100F outside.

Also got the dash done in that vette this weekend, buddy came and picked it up this evening. He was happy, now he's trailering it off to the same auto mechanic buddy for to start wiring.

Good news on the AC Matt. Mine will freeze you out also, but it should considering I have 1/3 the interior volume. I am very happy with the functions of that unit as well. Having no cables and vacuum lines made it a much nicer install also. You should bring it down to Moab next year for us all to see.

Gary,

Moab is a possibility.......

As soon as registration becomes available for 2007 I am signing up. Never been to any TLCA events, but figured Moab is as good as it gets. I don't plan on any rock crawling or anything that would risk barking it up, but if they have lighter duty trails, be happy to do those? Really not sure of the layout or how it works, but looks like fun!

Really need to get some more time and miles on before a trip like that. Just want some shake down time before I decide to drive 1700 miles away from home

Thanks again for hooking me up on the A/C

Matt

Drive it to Moab and ride with any of the 300 or so Cruiserheads that would love to have you as co-pilot for a day. Don't take it on the trails. That beauty will draw crowds everywhere it goes around town.

Steve, I remember you saying that more than once when you have been up here....I haven't forgot

If I go I know I will be cordinating with you to hopefully drive out at the same time. Figure if it works out that way, might be good for both of us to travel in #'s? LV's been pretty good for the first 224 miles so far...hoping to get a lot more miles on before next May.

I'm sure if I have a couple thousand on it by next May I'll feel a lot more comfortable with it, but right now it just feels like I'm holding my breath waiting for something to break. I'm sure with time that will pass

Matt

Matt, With what i have seen of this build, i highly doubt anything major iss going to break on it truthfully. You might get an odd rattle here and there from a bolt losening up but i even doubt that.

I would tell you to drive it like we did our vehicles overseas, but that might be a little much.

FYI to those keeping up: 10 more PDFs uploaded to CD creation work in progress web site (http://www.miletwo.com/buckroseau/). I also implemented a tabbed page approach to make the HUGE amount of pages more navigable.

I've been out on vacay for a week or so but should be able to get the rest of the pages converted to PDF and start pressing CDs in the next week or two. Once ready I'll figure out how much it costs to burn, pack and ship and then start taking orders. I'm expecting them to be WAY under $10.

Laters,

Jeremy

Matt, I looked around on my computer and i have about 700 more pics already on it from my last attempt at gaining some ground on the CCOR write up so I think i'll run through those and add them in and see if I can put together a little set of instructions for you at the same time. I had planned on getting it together over the weekend but I ended up down in DL and never got to it and I'm sure you know why, but I'll keep ya posted.

...Nice lookin jeep

Little work on the lv tonight.....got a care package from Treeroot (Mike). Actually came last Saturday, but had to work all last weekend and just got a chance to do some more work on the lv tonight.

Started with the wipers since that was going to be fairly easy. I had some wipers from CCOT that they had sent me a long time ago, one of those freebee deals in the box. I took the stock metal ones off and popped them on the arms I got from Mike, worked perfect. I used a little metal polish and buffed the arms up before I put them on, but overall they were in pretty nice condition. I am going to try to locate some replacement blades for the stock holders, but until then these should work great.

Then onto the tailgate supports. Somone had painted them black at some point....so I busted out some paint stripper and sauced them up. Took about an hour, but after that all black paint was gone. I think at some point I might blast them and them re-plated, but for now since I need some they look very acceptable.

Cleaned them up in the parts washer at installed them. I took a couple pics to see if I installed them right...not really sure because just seems like no matter which way I positioned them they wanted to fold up instead of down? I don't know, probably got something backwards? If any of you lv owners see something wrong, please let me know.

I am happy the tailgate supports are on....was very hesitant to let the wife drive it, just in case she or someone opened the tailgate. No tailgate supports and if that heavy tailgate hyper extended.......ooh that would not have been good. At least now I'm a little less worried about it

Anyway, pics and Thanks again Mike

Those two little black rubber things I threw in the box mount in the hole under the tailgate supports. They wern't in the best shape but I figured you could figure something out. They allow the arms to fold down and not hit the paint.

You can see them on Pimp's tailgare.
