I like the fj62 heater you are using. Are the hoses in the same position as the one from a from a fj60?

I don't know? This is the first heater like this I have ever seen. It may only be in FJ62's, but don't quote me on that, I'm not familiar with the 60 series stuff at all.

It is very similar to the 60
Most of the parts SOR offers have different part numbers 60-62

I do not own a F45, just UZJ100 owner but I have been reading your excellent posts daily. The front cover should show photos of before and after.
I would buy a hardcover book for my coffeetable in a second. Yes, get a third party to compiled your posts and photos then polished it for you. Do not submit your written work & photos to Toyota Trails, your article will be ruined by Reader Digest condensed form.
Then you might have some little profit left from the book sales to add supercharger on your personal plane's engine.
Cheers,

I'll remeber that cover if it ever goes to print And if any publishers are reading this, they can take the ball and run with it......I'm to busy working on the lv
And by the way, my plane needs no supercharger....gets me off the ground good enough
Thanks, Matt

Matt,
I am sure you have thought of this, but did you replace the dash bulbs with PIAA super whites? Sor sells them at $15 for a pair and they make a huge improvement! I also purchased a sete of 1156 bulbs on eBay that were LED's and they are so bright! They look goofy but once installed and behind a lense they work well.
Is there a reason that you are using a 79 Master and not a 80+ Single res version?
And seam sealing sucks! I spent the day doing the ouside and inside with a numatic seam sealer gun to reproduce those nice beads along all the seams and brushable on the underside.....
Also please look at my eBay store and please pick out what glove box shift plate and decals you need for this ride....I will donate to this build.
Why not use OEM ND A/C from the late model FJ40's? is the unit you used a better choice for truck due to conventional vents in the dash?
If you can give up the Fuel filler neck for a week, send it to me and I will have it re-plated to its true glory.
Best,
Shane

Hi Shane,
Didn't replace the bulbs, didn't know about the SOR ones, I'll take a look into that.
Had the 79 master cylinder and everything else off the 79 FJ40 I am using as a parts vehicle. Contrary to public opinion, money IS an object. Price was right on that MC.
Vents in the dash were not there, I made those. The OEM unit didn't do it for me, also wanted to size things down a bit and get rid of the OEM heater. My new unit is heat and AC. I also prefer the looks better of what I have installed vs the OEM unit.
I can give up the filler neck, where do you want it sent
I looked on your site, that stuff is nice. 3 speed auto shift plate, that would be the sh-t! I'll PM you my mailing address.
Thanks, Matt

The one in the 60 is located under the front passenger seat and the hoses are run from the outside from the engine and under the chassis then hooked up via two holes on the floor board. And the 60 heater does not sesemble the 62 on the out put and it is not design to go under the console. But is seems the 62 would work nicely on the 82 fj40 and of course the 45wagon . The problem with the OEM set up I have now it does not put out enough heat(located under console) and have considered replacing it. So I bought a 60 heater thinking it would be best but after seeing the 62 mod you putting together I may go that route. Anyhow, I was wondering if you have to cut out holes on the floor board in order to install the 62 heater.

No, no holes in the floor board. If you kinda look at my set up the seat frame is about 6" off the floor. I plan on T'ing into the coolant lines inside the cabin before I hit the heater core, then routing the lines back inside the cabin. All lines will be inside and nothing going through the floor.

Got about 2.5 hours in on the lv tonight. Pretty much building the center console.
I bent up and welded in the radio area. I had to mark and grind out the areas for the radio and my 2 heater switches. I think you can see the heater switches popped in one of the pics. I don't have the radio installed for a trial fit, since I don't have it yet.
Made the 2 top pieces, 1 for the storage compartment and the one for the radio. I made the radio one like the tuffy, so you close that first and then the storage one, and then you can lock the storage one. Mine isn't as stout as a tuffy, but it's pretty good.
Hopefully should get the brackets welded onto the heater tomorrow and get that mounted to the console, then I need to fit it into the seat frame area.
Matt

Dont forget about GPS and XM Radio wiring..........Also I think a gun locker is a good idea, Since it has everything else. Truck Vault makes good one for all your personal gear one might need.

Geez...what's next??? "Well, I had three hours to spend tonight, so I bent up a scale replica of an FJ40 for my kid's pedal car." "Maybe tomorrow, I'll throw a go-kart engine in it and a spare transfercase I've been kicking around..."
Amazing skills....wish I could just watch you use a bender so I could learn.

Damn Matt - that thing looks great, you gonna paint or upholster it? Definitely need a pad on that rear portion for your elbow, got enough vinyl left to stitch that up? Just remembered you're still going to do all the paneling ... can't wait! Don't tell anyone I'm excited about sewing

Got a solid 9 hours in on the lv today.
Started off the day by finishing my center console. The console was done, but I still needed to fit the heater in there. I had to make a bracket and weld to the heater housing itself. Then drill through the inner compartment and tap into those brackets, then bolt the heater in. Turned out pretty decent I think. It looks a little high, but I'm hoping will look correct when I get the seats in. I measured my CCOT console in my 40 before I started and it's the same height as that?
Earlier in the week I got a goodie package from Summit, more parts to make the motor go. As you can see, installed a few of those parts today, including the wood steering wheel
Also fabbed up a mount for the AC condensor and the tranny cooler. It's going to be tight, but should be enough room for the OEM grill behind the bib.
Hoping to do some sandblasting tomorrow and misc. painting of the parts I made today and some other stuff.
Matt

Matt, is the Rad support mounted for good? I have a Repro of the screen that goes across at the top if you want it.
Also a set of Hella Horns would look cool in the engine bay.
And I spent 4 hours staring into a media cabinet glass beading nuts and bolts........Just as much fun as seam sealing.....
Keep up the good work.

Rad support is mounted solid. Screen is still behind the condenser, just can't see it.
Still looking forward to that care package

Of course, gotta bust out the sewing machine again for that one! Probably be towards the end of the project, just not needed right now.

The wood wheel on the clear-coated column is major ...good taste, good build, good luck down the stretch!
