Today I drove the truck to the fire academy, only 16 miles round trip, but very fun none the less. I got a lot of thumb ups and strange looks from people trying to figure out what the hell I was driving. I am taking it on small trips around town, to work out the bugs and build up my confidence in the truck.
Well, as luck would have it, when I pulled into the parking lot there was a sheen on the floor board and firewall, the clutch started leaking.
The rear diff has leaked since I brought it home, I topped it off, wiped it all down and come to find out, it is leaking from between the 3rd member and the axle housing Something else to fix.
To round out the new list of things to do are find exhaust/air leak, adjust valves and change the oil filter unit and oil lines.
Is it possible to hook up the temp. gauge backwards?
When the ignition is off, the needle is on the C, when the ignition is turned on, the needle moves over on the H, and as I drive the needle starts coming down to the mark left of the H. It seems to me the gauge is working in reverse.

Tony-
Glad to hear it's on the road! Can't say that about the "other" 45 that was/is taking up space in the garage.
I have at least 3 of the oil canister elements. If you need one I'm up for donating one for the cause for sure.
As for the rear diff the only seal I have will replace the one on the 40 when I actually put the ARB in it after 2 years of sitting on the shelf.
My gauge works as follows:
With the ignition OFF it rests at "H". When I turn the key to "ON" the needle drops to "C". Once started it stays at "C" until warmed up, and eventually reads about mid-range on the gauge.
EDIT: I'll pull the cluster tomorrow if you'd like me to check the wiring for you.

If it is not a problem for you, that would be great!

Hey Tony:
The 45 looks great. We all need to get together for a FD photo. Looking forward to your posts. I will be doing the same with my 65-FJ-45.

Thank you for the offer Mike. I found one and will be re-installing the sway bar very soon.
The LV, SWB and LWB sway bars were the same?
I checked the wiring to the Temp gauge and it is wired just like Dom's. I have not had time to check the sender or try a different gauge. Next weekend I will get to it.

My wife would kill me, she is tolerant of the all the old helmets but an engine might send her over the edge.

Installed a few parts yesterday and this morning. The clutch master has been leaking on the inside of the firewall and knew it had just a few pedal pushes left, so it was replaced with a new master, slave, hard line and steel braided line. It made a huge difference in the feel of the pedal. I have been a little leery about driving around with the factory steel fan, too many horror stories. It was replaced with a factory 6 blade plastic fan (non fan clutch type) and fan spacer to keep it away from the pulleys and belt. This new fan moves a lot of air compared to the stock steel one.

My brake parts are almost together, rear rotors and brackets from Poser, front outers from Orangefj45 and being mud-shipped via D"Animal, brake booster from Landcrusher909. I just picked up the booster this afternoon, ABS Brake in Orange rebuilt it for me, 1 day turn around $85.00. Picked up my master cylinder ('92 Toyota Supra) at the local pick a part, $20.00. Almost time to start wrenchin'.

Eric,
Yep, that was me. I was on my way to pick up the booster, that was the first time I took it on the freeway. It rode pretty nice, but I was not quite able to keep of with the flow of traffic.
I just received these beauties in the mail today (Thanks, you know who you are ). I will run these as is for awhile, but will get them refinished.
