Gene,
I am sure I am speaking for many here... keep pulling parts. Bag them and tag them. They will be put to great use in your next wagon. I showed my wife the thread and she was bummed for you. She has been looking at a 45 in the garage for far too many years. But she knows that it is my favorite fj of them all. She is not a cruiser chick by choice. She just married into it. But she understands what you and your family are going through. She took great care of me for the year after my accident.

Know that you have folks all over the place that want you to have a second shot at the 35! Collect your thoughts, take a few deep breaths, and hopefully this group of cruiser nuts will shock you.

Goebs

I bet you could heve flipped it on its wheels and it would have started and driven away............
The Wagon I have would need most of the parts he already has. As well as some work. Anyone interested in helping???? Have to get it to him or the "crew" from a location in Northern Colorado.
I am travelling out of town and may not be able to check my email much for about 2 weeks. This cruiser would be well suited for ths project, I may need to keep the axles for another Wagon, but we will see. Take some time Gene, but it would be sad to let this dream go. Hope your and the Wagon's recovery go well.
This all still brings a tears to my eyes.

I will be driving to Denver the week after memorial day.

I can easily haul a trailer with me.

Gene, I am so glad you came through this without much damage to your self, and glad the rest of your family was not in the LV. For the last 40 years of living the legend and being around cruisers I have never heard if this happening. curious to see that wheel cylinder. Take your time getting into full swing with this project.---------Georg put me on the list for a couple days to go down to Marks to help with the swap, it won't hurt to have an old cruiser guru that's good with a wrench or torch around. You know, pardion brings up an interesting point.

When..........you have the time........
we all might like to see some photos of that wheel cylinder and anything else that went south on you.
We all have families, too, and worry about our chances of repeating your bum luck.
Maybe there's something positive that we all can learn from your experience.

I owned an LV for a while and loved it but it was too much work for my limited skills. I started following your thread when you came back recently. The pics of the accident gave me chills.

I'd be happy to kick in some $$$. A PO box would be good too since we don't want paypal making a % off of your troubles.

I have some stuff in the garage that I'll throw on eBay as well.

Glad you are fine and are surrounded by some great people!

You can have the LV in upstate NY...I just want the drivetrain, and know someone who just wants the frame, but it's just too far gone to even bother trying to find mudship for the body

Let's just say that I've been really lucky with some really great people in the 25 section...and this thread just proves it again...this old Cruiser community is just filled with guys that are in a class of their own. I've gained a much deeper respect for you guys after reading this thread, and will do what I can to help!

awesome to see how this is already coming together!!!!!!

besides setting up the "donation fund", we definetly need to figure out exactly what all is still good and what all is needed.

so gene, when you have some time, try to get a close look at the components and see what needs to be replaced. the body is a given. is the chassis ok? how about the axles, tire, wheels, powertrain, drivelines,.........

i have some parts, some cash and some plans!

Gene,

Very glad to hear that you were relatively unhurt and horrified to see the photos of your totaled 35. Looking forward to participating in the donation fund and seeing you rebuild your dream rig.

Soo sorry, I am just glad to see you were able to walk away from it. It could have been much worse.
This gives me some incentive to install some 3-pt seat belts in my LV. I'm also going to look in to putting in a dual circuit brake system. We put a lot of faith in the 40 year old technology that these rigs have.

Yeah, these guys are unbelievable. Thanks again to all of you. Going through the LV right now and making a list of all that is useable.

Mark, I pulled the rear reflectors and boxed them for you. They'll go out tomorrow.

Here's a list of what IS STILL USEABLE on my LV:

front & rear bumpers
bib
both aprons
both front fenders (FJ25 fenders in storage)
the passenger side fender step
hood, hood emblem, and ornament
all dash component: switches, gauge cluster, glove box door, e-brake, grab bar
rear view mirror
all internal door hardware: pulls, glass regulator arms, openner handles
Passenger side window regulators
passenger side front and rear doors (tweaked but I think fixable)
Front and rear seats (frames are bent but fixable)
Interior cargo area wall panels (4)
rear hatch and arms
tailgate and hardware
tail light lenses
gas tank
2F
3 speed (seems to shift just as jacked-up as before the accident)
Steering seems good
rear springs

I had 16" Chevy steel wheels with 31' tires. I checked the two on the driver side and both wheels are bent, but I've got 4 stock Toyota 15" with some worn out 33" all terrains that will work for now.

Both axles are leaking gear oil from the driver side. The rear axle really took a shot. Broke the front spring mount right off the frame.

I'm surprised some of the advertisers and sponsors on MUD or just other cruiser companies haven't jumped in on this. I would imagine a vocal donor would see some sales and support back to their business.

I'm selling a family cage off of a 40 for the donation fund. I want a ride in the new 35 once it's done otherwise I'm not sending you the $$$$.

Sorry to hear about this

I went through the same thing with my 55 2 years ago when I rolled it. I know how this feels for sure. Glad you are ok and still around for your family.

I'll see what I can do to help as well. This board is awesome.

good luck!
