more info pls

hey bull-

nice looking rig.

but you'll need to provide more info & history on the cruiser if you want serious offers - like frame condition, tranny, transfer case, belts, what's new, what's old, what's not working, mods, issues or quirks, rust (considering you're in washington) & leaks, bodywork needed and where, mileage, originally from where, when it was last serviced & what was done, etc.?

and more pics too = interior, undercarriage, engine bay, etc.

thx :grinpimp:

I will send more info to people who are serious. Are you serious?

ps. I have sold 8 rigs here on mud the past 6 years using the same format.

:eek::eek::eek:

Wow!!! But you just got this a while ago. Was/is it too much to deal with?
Not knowing anything about diesels, do you think the injectors will solve the white smoke problem?

Thanks!

Selling it due to change in plans in my life. It can be several things. If I let the engine glow for 30 seconds there is no smoke on start up. After it idles for 10 seconds or so it starts to smoke. So it could be bad glow plugs, air in the lines, injectors.

I am. looking at the 1980 HJ45 on sale on e-bay...which is a bit outta my price range though

my bad bull. it must've been the 4hr office mtg I just came out of... didn't mean to sound like a know-it-all :bang: - it's the project mgr in me :D

I'm having a hard time trying to choose btwn the bells n whistles of an FZJ80 or a project rig, like an HJ47, FJ45 or 55. I'm leaning more towards the project rig.

and besides, more info helps me convince the :princess:
you think the troopy can make it down to so cal? it would be a really nice drive down the coast :steer:

TLCAddict,

Once you have a troopy, you will never go back (except Bull, who seems to change them with his socks:D). I've had my troopy since Oct, 1996 and it is the best Cruiser I've ever had.

Cheers

FZJ80 is by far a more capable rig. I get more looks and thumbs up in a Troopy. They are very different beasts.

The Troopy would need a good tune up and tire change for a drive like that.

I'll try unzipping the files during lunch break [here at the office ]
I'm not always logical or pratical, I'll choose the thumbs up over a capable, everyday rig. I am more than willing to part with the mbz project, and move over to the troopy.

1. can the 2H be turbo-charged? is it even recommended?
2. besides the plugs and/or injectors, tires, any other serious issues? I would much rather drive the troopy down than have it transported.

I bought the 62 for meself :grinpimp:, but now our daughter wants it. our 10 y.o already wants a cruiser too, and the 5 y.o. doesn't like taking :princess:'s jag anymore... I got the kids hooked :D

and besides, with the troopy, you know how many kindergarteners I can take to chuck.e.cheese?

i've had my 84 hj47 troopie for about a year now. sold the camry and now the hj is my daily driver. enough said.

besides, the asking price is definetly better than "right". smokin deal.

TLCAddict,

You can definately turbo charge the 2H. I had my 2H turbo charged in Melbourne in 1996, and I drove it for quite a few years that way. Because I brought it in to the US before she was 25 years old, I had to get all of the safety/emissions inspections done in order to get her approved. Try as I might, I could not get the 2H approved (not a problem for you, as it is already in the US legally, and diesels are exempt in Ca). So I pulled it, and sold it to bloke in Atlanta (the irony was just that I only had to show that the engine I had in her was US Spec, not that the engine which was in there was no longer in the US).

I had a 5 speed, and 3.73 gears when I still had the 2H, and the highway performance was quite good. If you set Bull's rig up that way, you too will prefer to drive a Troopy than the Wife's Jag... If you really want a wining rig, take that thing to TLC and have them make it into something which the pickiest hockey mother would be proud to drive.

Cheers,

Josh

How about a trade Rodney- I know you probably don't need another pickup but I'd really like to get your troopy. I dug your white one.

Here's some pics so you don't have to search...

It has an H in it and zero rust. Imported out of Brisbane and was allegedly a one owner truck. It's now sporting silver 70 series wheels instead of those ugly white ones.

i like turbo =)

I know...I know... the HJ47 is so b e a u t i f u l :p

good to know that I can turbo-charge the 2H. there are some serious inclines here in la, but not like sf though.

I make fun of my :princess: when I see another jag on the road, so I tell her that she could be the coolest :princess: driving a troopy.

takin it to TLC will cost an arm, a leg & one of my kids...but, I must say, they do nice restorations. :wrench:

still workin on convincing the :princess:... wish me luck this wknd

24hours-
bump for a really nice rig!!

Would you be interested in a partial trade for a 2000 BMW 328i?? Runs perfect and in nice condition.

Can you PM me your phone number?

Its a nice looking rig... i've leaned on it a few times drooling. Family takes a big bite out ot the toy fund. Definitely worth it though. In 20 years when are kids are out of the house (hopefully sooner) and we have our toy fund again.... we will price these out. meh... you'll probably drop 30k into the same rig then. We'll look back and say... damn, I only sold that for 10k!

Bull,

I saw your auction ended for the HJ47 - were you able to sell it?
