People.. Thank you all (and specially John) for all the support. I just received the first sample wheel cup. There are a few small issues in it that will be addressed in the next sample. I will elaborate on them in another post soon. For now, I would like your comments on the sample pictured below..
Thanks
Ehsan

Production will start in a few days time. I recommend that the anyone interested should tender the following information so we can plan on shipping. If small groups can be arranged state wise then shipping would be reduced per piece. Just give your name and number that you need as well as postal/zip code.
Thank you
Ehsan

Looks good, buuuuut the metal needs to be smoother before plating. Originals did not show the rings from spinning. Just being honest. Can that happen?

Yes.. As I mentioned in my previous post, there are a few refinements to be made.
1 - No spin marks
2 - Better and closer finish at the joint (front and back pieces are spot welded together all around)
3 - "T" emblem stamped in the middle
The next sample will have all these improvements. Please hold on for them. Getting this far was the difficult part. The final touches should not be too much of an issue.
Thanks
Ehsan

Thank you. Has interest in this died out because its a heavy undertaking at my side getting 500 pieces made. Not many have commented as yet. I thought the pics should cause a minor stir..

looks like from the dates and responces ...that its far from dead
People have been pretty requraly chiming in that they like them and would want full sets ...you have just been alil too buissy to check every day
I dont think however that you are up to 500 by any means just yet...but...you would probably get some more orders once people have a finished product in hand.

Looking good!!! can't wait to see picts of the final cap!!
My guess is that if John goes ahead with bringing them in, that sales will be pretty good, you know...people like knowing that they are landed and in hand before buying
So you are going to make them with their "T"'s first, and then give the customer the choice to cut them out, or will you cut them out yourself?
Looking forward to more info when you get new picts...again...nice work!!!

They look sweet.
I know the originals didn;t have the swirl marks... but that gives it the home made touch.

WOw.. much nicer than the old junk in the basement I have here.. patiently awaiting finished product. THe missouri crowd will just ship to one address, either chef's place or mine to save shipping costs.
I'm interested in a set (probably 3) with the hole for the hubs, can you punch those? or just the enclosed caps?

I plan to get the holes in about 200 of them. I will need the dimentions (the diameter of the hole and the measurement of the hub protruding out from the hole when the cap is installed). It would be nice for a couple of you to get these so its confirmatory.
The lines will go. The T will be in place.
When you say the Missouri crowd? How many people are we talking about?
I know I cant sell 500, but that was the minimum that the guy was willing to make. He was not coming under 1000 pieces but I convinced him.
Thanks
Ehsan

Ehsan, will they be ready when our rear quarters are ready? I'm sure there are a few sets for the guys getting the 1/4's. I'm in, depending on cost of course.

I am trying to get these in about 15 days time. We have Eid Holidays coming up next week so I think the 1/4s and these should be ready by Christmas time. .

Maybe you can add it to the 45LV quarter shipment too?

They look great can't wait to see the final product. Was the shipping any cheaper to Miami like we did the 45 LWB canvas bed topper. My zip code 33441. Still interested in 2 with holes and 4 solid.
Thanks,
Mike

wherever the bulk shipment goes we'll coordinate from there, probably John in california ?
I will coordinate our club guys here.. I know Chef and I for sure are getting some and will call a couple others in our club that should be ordering these as well. .
Right now I know I want 5 enclosed and 3 with the hole depending on cost per piece, chef is in for 10 caps depending on price.. don't know if he's needing any with the cutouts or not.
Do we know a total $ per piece and to whom do we send payment? Can we send payment to one individual here that will wire to you ? Or do you want us to send directly to you and arrange shipment from there?

also whomever is offering to receive/distribute, my girlfriend does importation stuff and might be able to assist setting up the company/shipping/importation/customs etc, if it's a container or partial container. I'm in the middle of the freakin country so not that feasable for me to assist.

Double WOW Eshan! looking good. I just tallied up the responses in this thread from the beginning and came up with 157 caps without holes, and 18 caps with holes. So I would think much less than 200 of the 500 caps should have holes, mabye 80? These hubcaps never had holes origanally, dealer did it. I would think that it would be easier to add holes later if more are needed than possibly ruin some complete hubcaps. I measured a couple caps with holes and they were 115 mm. with a 8mm rolled in rim on the inside. Warn early barrell style locking hubs measure 105 mm OD, that leaves 5mm around the circumfrence for install and removal. And yes I am still availiable to ship from central California. When people order to simplify they should be sold as each. Solid or with a hole, not by the set. Hope this info helps. Happy to see light at the end of the tunnel for everyone. John Pardi

Wheel-cup Version 2
This is a near final version in raw form. The piece you see in the pictures is not chrome plated. It was simply buffed because of lack of time before the Eid holidays here. Improvements are
1- No spin marks on the front
2- Better and closer fit of the two pieces. The joint is barely visible.
I can safely say that this project has finally materialized and we are now ready to take orders.
Price per piece is US$65 excluding shipping.
Weight per piece is approx 550 gms (I will let you know the finla weight here after chrome plating and all)
A set of five will take about 1 x 1 x 1 foot box to hold.
Thanks for all the input and help in this regard.
Ehsan
