Uncomfortable Seat In Fj

Anyone Make Any Recommendations For Front Bucket Seat Replacement That Would Be More Comfortable For Long Trips. I'm On Hwy A Lot And The Bucket Seats Kill Me. Landcruiser Or Tundra Seats?

I'll second this question! It's been 35 days and 6500 miles, and the lower back pain is getting worse. Don't know about you, Jones, but I'm tall-torsoed. Is this part of the cause? Who knows, but I'm going to start by getting a lumbar pillow (if there is any such thing), but will keep listening for replacement seat wisdom. Thanks for bringing up the subject...it prompted me to get registered onto this Forum.

It took me some time to get the right driving position for my 6.4 / 180 body, but I found the seats rather comfy, even on 1000 plus rides... not the seats my Rx330 had.. but almost..

It has one of the most comfy seats for a vechicle that design for off-road. I guess you can't expect too much, maybe just adjusting the seat until you get use to it. I guess the driver seat has too much room for you to move around and that cause your body to lean on one side or the other which might cause back pain after long ride.

4Runner Limited seats should bolt-in. They are more comfortable, definitely. Unfortunately, I don't think the FJC has the wiring to power the seats...?

On an 80, all you need is +12v un-switched (~30amp). I'm pretty sure that would be the same with the 4R seats.

Problem solved: $40 solution was a visco-elastic memory foam lumbar support pillow from a chain store called Relax The Back. Aaaahhhhhhh.....nice. My theory is that I, at 6'6"/270#, had become used to the outstanding support in my '94 80 and my recently departed Bimmer 5-series (mostly the latter). By comparison, these FJC saddles have zero lower back support, but I'll stop whining now. Must admit, I love the suspension in this little buggy...it eats up the crappy roads around here. Can't wait to get it to CO in August!

Thanks to all for the seat advice!
J

I have to disagree (at least for my back). The H3 seat is much more comfortable, and that's certainly an offroad vehicle. The main problem with FJ seat is it doesn't have adjustable lumbar, which is ridiculous for a vehicle built in 2007. It didn't have to be power adjustable, but at least a manual adjustment should have been provided, as they do on the Tacoma Sport Seats. Everyone's back is different, and the seat should accomodate that.

Don't intend to hijack this thread, but a seat like my 94 4Runner or pickup, while not quite as wide, would be nice. It was comfortable, had lumbar support, and would fold forward for ready rear access at the pull of a lever. Only thing they didn't have was the arm rest...
