Angry poor FJ Cruiser

Went to see Cars yesterday night, the movie was great.. but when I got back to my car in the parking lot.. things weren't so great..
some @sshole had been very "bored" with a metal stand and smashed my windscreen and hood...

Ouch! I don't understand how or why someone would do something like that. Had something similar happen several years ago. Parked in an underground garage and came back a few hours later to find all 4 tyres had been slashed.

Looks like they smashed the roof also or is that just the lighting?

Wow, I think I would be pretty pissed. I guess at least it's just the glass. You got any enemies?

Unfortunately it's not just the glass.. the hood got some big dents too by the weight of that metal sign..
Strangely enough I wasn't mad at all but rather sad.. I'm very proud of my FJ Cruiser but in the end it's just a car...My car though...
And yes, my main worry is to be able to get a new windscreen quickly.

Just make sure you take it to a really good body place. My mom's 4runner got gainked on the front fender. Its the best repair job I've ever seen. I could only find one place on the whole vehicle that had over spray, and it was a 1mm thick line that went for about 2cm, and it was in a totally hidden place. I think she went through the dealer to find the place. Insurance is great in situations like this, but I'm willing to bet that becuase its new (as long as you don't have to replace the hood), that the windshield is going to be more pricey than the actuall dent repair....

Unfortunately there was no video surveillance ..

Just cleaned the car inside and out.. The windscreen obviously needs to be replaced, the hood has only some light scratches but 2 rather deep dents...
Getting the fine pieces of glass from the dashboard was a nightmare..

Called Toyota ... My dealer had already replaced one windscreen and told me it would take a week or so.. let hope that's correct.

Somebody was jealous. Sorry about your ride. Jealousy sucks, I've seen my share of it having owned some nice vehicles myself.

That sucks what an a#@hole! That's why I hate leaving mine in parking lots and garages but I have to sometimes. I just got back from seeing that movie (Cars) the comment the H2 made about never being offroad before was pretty funny.

FJ getting hit at movie "Cars"

There must be something about our FJ's getting hit at the Movie "Cars." Hubby and I took out '79 FJ40 to the movie and left the Mustangs at home, good thing. We came out from watching Cars and there is a Honda up against our car. Looked like they ran into us. But the person forgot to put the car in gear and/or put the E-brake on. Their car was sitting against out Passanger front tire. If we moved out FJ their car would have rolled again to hit a Lexus parked behind us. So we got the Manager and he got a rock to put under the tire of the honda. Pushed the car back into place and left a nice little note for them. As we were leaving the movies we saw mud tracks, followed them and found a great mud hole with a Jeep playing. So we had a good time and felt a lot better about getting hit by a Honda..

Brought the car to the body repair shop today.. found some info regarding the windscreen on another forum... something to remember when you have a problem with you FJ's windscreen (hopefully not)

"...The top molding should not be removed before the windshield.
The windshield should be unglued/ vibrating paddle device, then when you get to the top, after ungluing the winshield from the top , just pull the entire windshield with top molding attached straight up, then remove the molding from the windshield once it is off the vehicle.

Also I was told by the shop that in removing the molding it will get slightly damaged. The shop should order the molding with the new windshield. Windshield cost $1150.00 the Molding cost $300.00. Plus four non-reusable clips about $30.00. ..."

expensive!

I call BS. Sierra club is the worst bunch ever... Those A-holes ruin the fun for people like us, 4x4 enthusiasts. I've back packed over 1.5k miles in my 26 years on this earth. Never once have I even considered supporting the sierra club.

Get real

Maybe this would be a good time to cut the roof off and get a soft top made?

Seriousely, though, nothing I hate more that someone who touches an un-attended vehicle.

Did you see if the cops could get prints off the rack? Or maybe they don't bother with property crime?
