I like that 4 door Wrangler Rubicon. Toyota missed the mark a little bit with the FJ Cruiser. I would have loved to see a 4 door, solid axle, lockers front and rear, FJ Cruiser.

Oh wait, Toyota did make something similar, my 97 FZJ 80 CE. They just need to rethink the FJ Cruiser when the inevitable model changes come in a few years. I would like to see Toyota do something like the above 4 door Wrangler, but as a true homage to the FJ 40.

It is a nice looking truck, but I still think my lx450 looks better. I do agree with some the FjC has a ugly rear on it and would love to see the top come off on it. I think jeep is trying to turn some heads.

Wow that seems high and I own one. My local dealer had a 4x4 MT (standard rear locker) with the conv package and alloy wheels with an MSRP of $26 and mine is a AT 4x4 with conv pkg, upgrade pkg 1, side airbags, trd exhaust, rock rails and hitch with an MSRP of $30K.

Here is an auto with
CONVIENCE PACKAGE - CQ
AL - 17 INCH ALLOY WHEELS
DL - REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK
FE - 50 STATE EMISSION REQUIREMENT
GY - DR/PASS CURTAIN/SIDE AIRBAGS

MSRP: $27,385, priced at $26,447

Its not a matter of saying a Jeeps is a mercedes and not a jeep any more, its a matter of pointing out who is now in charge of its manufacturing and development, and the new resources and technology Jeep now has to develop its line. Its still Chrysler right? NOPE! The management has changed. as a result of a $38billion merger, DaimlerChrysler was born from the merger of one of the largest European industrial firms, Daimler Benz, and one of the largest American corperations. In truth it was not so much a merger but an "acquisition" for Daimler Benz of Chrysler.

I've met several of the jeeps design team, and engineers. You would be surprised how close and direct DaimlerChrysler is involved with there products, and how much sharing there is with jeep and mercedes, for example; the new 07 grands are going to be avialible with a 3.0L diesel built by Mercedes-Benz (which quite likely will find its way into the new Wrangler).

Thats a great price. Every dealer I've gone to hear in utah the price has been way over that. One of them has been marking up the price as much as $3000 over sticker. The best price we've got so far actually came directly from toyota's website. The lowest price I could get a locker and AT was $28,300. Its becuase it requires you to get the conviniance package and upgrade package 1, it all added up to $28,300. The dealers are also giving NO dicounts, atleast the ones I've been to so far, though I think maplton cruiser got a bit of a deal on his and he's in the neigborhood, so....

Sorry to hear that. The rear locker is a stand alone option and doesn't require anything save buying a 4x4. That being said, I don't think Toyota has built/sold one without the Conv package yet. The link I posted before was for www.fitzmall.com All of their FJCs are about $1K under MSRP at the moment.

If you're going to do that, bypass Fitzgerald's and go to Carmax Toyota in Laurel, MD. They have a true no-haggle policy and are far more reputable than Fitzgerald's. They also have a network of dealerships that allow transfer for a fee. My wife used to sell cars in the DC area and knows who's good and who isn't. We got our cruiser at Carmax and it was a wonderful experience.

If you believe you're actually going to get the vehicle at the online price from Fitzgerald's. Trust me, there will be hidden "add-ons". The "reasonable" online price or quote is to get you in the door.

I totally disagree. I bought mine from them an paid the internet price. They offer a "value price" which is a couple hundred more and includes oil changes, loaner car etc... Becuase of my distance to the dealer (40 miles) I didn't think it was worth it. I told them I was paying the internet price and that is what I paid. The check that I wrote them was for the internet price + sales tax + title and tags.

I ordered my truck from them and they only put on it what I wanted. No floor mats, nothing I didn't want. Total time in the dealership was 1 hour. They do try and sell you a lot of additional things like warranty, undercoating, etching, etc... but I made it clear I wasn't interested and they stopped offering.

That is truly amazing!

I'm glad you got a good deal. Maybe I'll see you on the road. Look for an overweight, middle-aged guy with a shaved head in a black/white FJC.

I have put a 6'2" 250 lb friend in the back seat of my FJ and he's still my friend - no problem with space, but the door is a little awkward.

Has anyone seen the Bronco concept vehicle? It's pretty ugo.

I've owned many vehicles, and the Toys have always been best all around.

As an EB owner, I was excited to hear that Ford might come out with another Bronco. Unfortunately, what they have presented is the biggest piece of crap that should never be associated with the Bronco name and heritage. Think Ford Escape with a box shaped body. 4 wheel independent suspension, no low range, operates primarly in front wheel drive until slip is detected and sends power to the rear wheels.............I think you get the idea.

That's an easy one. Toyota wanted a vehicle with a stiff body structure for good on-road ride, and from what I have seen they accomplished this very well. You can never get as good body stiffness with a removable top.

Wont know until i itry it, but that back door looks just about useless. And since it is there, the front door is pretty small too. I like the huge door on the FJ and since I raely need to use the suicide door, it is not a problem. I'd rather have the larger front door than a pathetic standard rear door.

Not too bad looking for a Jeep. I still like my FJ better. Maybe one day I will get brave and will cut the top off of it and have a good canvas shop make up a soft top. A nice Defender 90 like roll cage would be slick also. If only I wasnt a chicken.

Zero competition. Looks more like they are trying to compete with the lower line hummers.

Rumor has it toyota is working on a removable top for the FJC's so it might be as easy as puting a 4sale sign up & making a visit to the dealer some day....

Let's hope they keep the hardtop model, as well. There would be too many compromises to make the top removable.

There're few true offroaders left in production- Nissan Patrol, LR Defender, Toyota 70- and 105-series.

I didn't put my money in Defender ( just IMOP ) coz they axles aren't strong enough to run huge tires ..

Toy and Nissan axles are ready to run over 35" stock ..

As much as I would love having the four doors and convertible top, I don't think it will look that good with the doors off since the existing TJ's have the removable door pillar.
