I don't even think the SUB does anything, I get more base from the lower door panels and the headliner.
I am thinking about removing it altogether!! MA |

You kinda have to push the subwoofer button to actually here the sub dude. Give it a try.

I was thinking i might pull it out and replace it with a Bazooka tube. Anyone tried this yet?

I doubt the stock subwoofer could be made to fit the other side. Take it out and you'll see what I mean. There's a large "protrusion" out the back that goes into the spot in the side where non-Subwoofer-equipped FJs have a storeage cubby. It could probably be hacked off but I don't know what's in it, so it's hard to say.

the stock sub is definitely noticeable. It provides a much lower (sub) bass sound which you can not hear once you switch it off. It is off when the button is out, which is the opposite of how I expected it to be.
I am very happy with the way the FJammer sounds. I play my ipod through the aux input. Great set up. The only thing that could be better would be an integrated ipod controller and I am sure that some crafty engineer will design one soon enough. Great sound system. You can always add more, but what it has is 90% there. Have I mentioned that I love this truck? |

if you use the equalizer setting on the Ipod, and put it on "extra bass", does it help the subwoofer in the FJ?

I am not sure what you mean by 'help'? I definitely hear the difference whenever I switch the sub woofer on or off. It would probably be noticeable if you set the equalizer on the iPod. If i think of it i will try it later and let you know.

the subwoofer on mine is absolutely ridiculous. i love it. (my song prefrence leans toward bassy songs. non rap though). i was stuck behind a biker in the middle of the road (one of the "i have all the time in the world" types). and i had to wait for 4 cars to pass beforei could go around the guy. he was on the right side of my car, and just as his head was next to the woofer, my volume was about 50, and i was blasting rammstien. i almost knocked him off his bike. served him right. no reason to take up that much road.

I have noticed that at least one FJ that I drove at the dealer, the subwoofer was imperceptible - with the switch in either position. The other FJ, the bass was quite noticeable. Not sure why the difference. Must be a change in default in the head or something. MAsFJ may not be alone in the universe

Mine was barely noticeable....and out it came. Can't tell the difference with it gone.
