Why isn't a sunroof offered on the FJ?

See above.

Probably so they can sell more FJ Cruisers in a year or two when they start offering it.

I think because of the speaker system on the celing and better stability off road.

No not stability off road. My Land Rover has 2 sun roofs. Anyway, it's hard to say why they didn't except I keep hearing about the speakers. Personally it's not that important to me. The important thing for me was test driving it OFF ROAD, which I did before I bought it. I never even popped the hood to look at the engine. The way it drives on and off road was what sold it the most to me. Especially off road. Like the FJ-40, the new FJ was designed to be an Off Road machine with the capability of driving on road legally.

probalby the same reason they don't offer one on the new Tacos. Don't know, maybe to be able to offer a new accessory someday?

As with just about any new model introduction...they make you wait for the coming years to introduce more options, colors, etc., to keep customers coming in to look and lust after the "newest"...

It may be price point, the more you put on the sticker, the more it costs. A sun roof costs a pretty penny. To bring the truck in at certain price, it needs to not have so many upscale things. later robbie

Toyota makes the tilt/open roof. This takes up alot of headroom. FJC owners can comment whether loosing 2-3" of headroom would make a difference.

I don't know anything about the headliner speaker system, but that might be a valid reason.

Price is def. valid as a sunroof is usually part of a $1500+ option pkg

maybe a combination of these factors plus it might go against the "rough n' ready" image they are trying to portray.

It also helps avoid overlap w/ the 4Runner

I think maybe you ALL are correct on this one

at the first dealership i went to, i saw the FJ on the lot they had as a demo model. voodoo blue fully loaded, and they put in a custom navigation system, and a sunroof. apparently it was aftermarket. lol i asked him how much for that particular car, he told me, "you don't want to know."

They asked me if it should have a sunroof, I said "no".
