Rollover Angle

Hola,

So, has there been any estimates on rollover angle for the FJC? Before all those technically advanced among us jump on me about too many factors involved etc....I understand that each situation is different, and therefore the roll angle will vary from situation to situation.

I have narrowed it down to between 0 and 90 degrees.

Not sure what the angle is, but I have a feeling you'll know when you get there!

The official max side tilt from Toyota is 41 degrees. Here comes the disclaimer!!! Warning this should only be done by professionals on perfectly smooth and perfectly calculated side tilts. LOL. I always say you can roll anything over you want to. I have had it on some really extreme side tilts and it feels incredibly stable.

Exclamation

I remember HUMMER going up Lions Back and turning the vehicle sideways about half way up to prove its stability. I've never seen LB except in pictures, but judging from what I have seen, and seen of the FJ on the Rubicon etc in side slope, I think the FJ could do that as well. I await Toyota for a demo though.......

when you hit the "OH S@$#!!" point, you're there....

no firsthand info, but I think I read somewhere around 35˚ but don't quote me on that....

Not sure about what angle I was at, but yesterday I noticed my seatbelt pretensioners were activated when I was sideways at a fairly steep angle, so I'm guessing there is a sensor that has an angle programmed into it. I wonder what angle is required to fire the side airbags?

Its not so much the angle that puts you over as it is weight transfer....with that said anything over 30* one should be paying attention.

steep angles will lock the seatbelts, the airbags are fired based on impact/decelleration - not angle.
