Chop the Roof?

Has anyone thought of chopping the roof and making it a permanent convertible. If so, how much do you think it would cost at a shop. thoughts?

cut it off yourself. Then make a roll cage and customize a ragtop.

I had one of my friends do this to a Corolla XRS. He did a great job. He had a softop and a hardtop for it. I believe it ran him for about $2K in tools/parts/design he did all the labor himself.

The first shop to chop the top is going to receive alot of exposure. Someone out there get the top cut off.

TLC sent me an email response to my inquiry to match one of the convertible sketches as a one-off custom -- would be in excess of six figures.

(see lower left thumbnails at http://www.tlc4x4.com/TruckDetail.asp?TruckID=18 )

Looked at the speculative thumbnail of an FJ Cruiser de-topped,..... reminds me of the old Pacer! Amazingly butt-ugly!
