How about Some FJ Wheeling Pics?

Went to Chinaman's Gulch yesterday to wheel with the FJ Cruiser Team on their first Official run.

One of the FJ Cruiser Team drivers is Robbie. Robbie loves to wheel, and it must be great to wheel and get paid for it. Especially, getting to try out a new vehicle. Here is Robbie spotting another rig over the "whale Rock" that the FJ tackles in the next few shots

Robbie really loved the A-Track and in this pic, I was told, he did not even turn on the locker as the A-Track was sufficient.

Here are some other FJ Pics with Robbie driving. The first one is a lot harder than it looks. Two of us had to be strapped through it. One of the 60's broke open his diff and had stay there with other club members till after midnight after the parts were secured, sent up to the top of the trail and fixed.

Both FJ's (There was a silver one too) did great and showed how capable they are. Note the ARB Bumper, and skid plates. The one Robbie drove did not have a lift, and I know he wished it did.

Really cool. I am so happy that Toyota has kept the spirit of a truly capable 4x4 alive when other makers are watering down the genre. These pics and many others show that the FJ has nothing too apologize for.

That will be my next vehicle when my 1971 FJ40 wears out. That will be quite a while yet, though.

Robbie took that blue fj right up with atrac on and the locker off IIRC

Almost every vehicle had trouble on the first attempt at the line...

It was a great day on the Trail with the FJ's and seeing how capable they are. Both FJ's being stock and I think there was only one other rig stock.

I got to get behind the wheel for short distance and it was pretty cool. Definatly try to meet the Trail Team at an event this spring, summer or fall.

Awesome pics.. Looking at the pics. The front articulations for an IFS rig is as bad as I though It'd be.

I got a question for ya. How did the ARB bumer Affect the Approach angle going up those rocks? Better/worse/same?

I checked with my local dealer... He said you can't put your lunch in them because all the space is used up on the ray gun mechanism.

You need em that big 'cause you can't check your blind spots over your shoulder.

Not to say I don't dig it. Buy my 40 and I'll go get one the next day.

I like my mirrors on my 80 and the old 62. It helps more than looking over my shoulder. The big mirrors and the electric controls help keeping the body off stuff. But so does the short over hang and having the tires close to the corners. After about 4 days of wheeling this rig(I have spent about 2 weeks with the truck and about 1500miles, (I was issued the truck with about 20+miles on the clock), I have gotten use to where the tires( for the most part) are on the trail. They are easy to predict where and when they go over something. The mirrors help when I want to make sure I am past something(like big rocks and trees that mangle stuff).
It really is predictable if you spend time learning the truck. Just my thoughts. later robbie
