Please hear my plea...

If Toyota is indeed listening, please hear me.

Please build and market against the Jeep TJ, the FJ40 prototype that you commissioned from Johnathan Ward of TLC4x4 in California.

As seen here... TLC4x4's FJ40 Prototype

Toyota could take a LARGE portion of the market from Jeep if they would just do it.

The tooling was available in Brazil until 2001 -- may still be available.

If the Jeep TJ can be built to pass DOT standards, it would not be hard to make the FJ40 prototype pass as well. Especially using the Tacoma V6 drivetrain wherre emissions are concerned. Bumper modifications are all that would be necessary. As for air bags, the Tacoma steering column and a modified dash.

Please hear me and see that many of us want the FJ40 Prototype -- NOT the FJ Cruiser.

I would not hesitate to buy the FJ40 prototype if it was available today. No question whatsoever. I can also say there are many, many of us who would do the same.

Thank you for listeneing to us Toyota. We have lots of suggestions, ideas and desires for new vehicles from you. We're glad you are taking the time to listen to us.

Jody.

that is sweet, first time i saw the "prototype"

yea it feels like the deck is stacked against the cruiser when all aftermarket upgrades are more than twice the price of the jeeps upgrades. suspension, bumpers, etc....

numbers game

Outback,
I'm totally with you, i have been dreaming over the "prototype" for months and years....Its amazing....Toyota, please reconsider things....why not just make a special editon 40...produce it for aa few years at least...a 40 body on a modified 80 chassis.....it would be amazing, blow jeep out of the water and would quite possibly go down in the books as one of the best 4x4's ever made, thast what all the old 40's are pretty much remembered as, why not do it again?

I emailed Toyota and ask them Why can't they build a Cruiser with a body style of a FJ40(J**P style) with front live axle? F**k it.

Oh brother. A WAY more appropriate Land cruiser for the current market would be an FJ/HZJ-74. That vehicle would have a chance at battleing Jeep for the TJ market. At least it is modern in comparisson to the FJ40 series.

We all know this wont happen, Toyota has gone through ALL sort's of work to get this one rolling, There is no way they will scrap it now.
I have no problems with the current FJC, Sure it could use some sprucing up, Just buy a 2WD model and do a SAS.
However...IF they listen, Save us all a bunch of trouble and have it standard.

I figured the TLC 40 would have coils at the very least.

Those guys are ballsy thinking that the will get $88G's for a customized vehicle.
It's funny that if you trade in a totally customized rig/car to a dealer they tell you it's worthless because "you have detered regular people away from it". Then they turn around and try to sell it for mega $'s.

For that kind of my you can buy 2.5x that guy's imported LHD HDJ80 with lockers and rear tire carrier. Or a brand new G-Wagen (G500).
