Ya, I'm a new guy here & yes I did do a search, but did not come up with much. The reason I joined here was to gather as much info on the V-8 swap. I read on my other forum that some guy's on this site have done this. If you or anyone you know of that have done this or I can PM with questions would be great. I'm looking for the doner type they used, how hard it was, is it worth it, would they do it again, what kind of problems they ran into, this kind of stuff. Things to avoid kind of things. I don't think anyone has done a V8 swap on a FJ Cruiser.

Are you doing one on a FJ-40 Land Cruiser?

I'm interested in info on a 4Runner or Tundra V-8 swap into an '07 FJ Cruiser. I read on the FJCruiserforum.com forum that some of the guy's here have done this swap. I know that any engine swap is possible if wanted badly enough, but was thinking that the 4Runner V-8 can't be that much different(could be totally wrong on that). I know there is not that much of a HP difference(almost not even worth it), but I just want the V-8 "Rumble" from my '07 FJ Cruiser. I'll keep lookin & hope that I come across someone who has done it or knows someone that has done it. Thanks for the intrest & reply, MAXX

It seems that for all that trouble I would put a 3.0 Diesel found on the foreign Prado. If you're looking for power, you can do some sick things to the FJ engine for the $$$ of replacing it with a V8.

the 5-speed transmission in the 4Runner and the 5-speed transmission in the FJC are identical....and Toyota has dropped a 4.7 in the FJC 'just for fun' at corporate....

no bets on how long your rear axle survives, but the swap shouldn't be too difficult.

I also concur, that 8" is going to be hating life(though a very short one) under a 4,700 lb rig with 400 lb-ft of torque. If you got the money to do the swap, probably got enough to laying around that you might as well get a currie or diamond rear while your at it, oh and the 5.7 supercharger . If you do decide to do it, we want pics

The 4runner with a 4.7 is really tight... the fjc would have to be worse.
I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done though.
A donor wrecked v8 runner would be a good start I think.....

TRD had it out at the FJ Summit this year. Sick dude!

the TRD guys took a FJ Cruiser to the Summit this year with a supercharged V-8 installed.....I think it was out of Tundra but cannot remember for sure. It was working very well from what I remember and there was a lot of interest in this option. There was even talk of setting it up to run on fewer cyilinders at highway speeds to conserve fuel and make it more efficient for epa standards.
