Lurker CHECKING IN

Hello to all!!! I've been a lurker for quite sometime and finally took the plung. Well this has been quite a year, going from '02 Disco which I traded in for a mint '06 Wrnagler Unlimited that the wife hated and now I'm finally settled into a '07 Voodoo Blue FJ Cruiser which I totally dig. The day after I brought it home my wife and daughter named him "Hefty Smurf"... it could have been worse, it could have been "Smurfet".
Well a little about myself: I just retired from the Marine Corps at the end of Aug, did 20 years, and live in Durham, NC. I was wounded in Iraq a couple of years back so my right kick-stand does not work that well as times. I enjoy the outdoors and kinda got the vehicle expedition bug when I lived in Africa from 2000 to 2003.

I'm very interested in getting to know all of you and enjoy this site quite a bit since most everyone appears to be professional...

Since I have alot of time on my hands these days please get in touch if your doing something in my neck of the woods... or even a little further... the wife is not used to me home so much so she is game with me driving away for a week or two.
Take care
Russell

Welcome Russell! There are quite a few friendlies in NC. You should check the Olde North State Cruisers (TLCA subchapter) for contact: NC- Olde North State Cruisers - IH8MUD.com
They are an active bunch and can get you on the trails or give you local advice. MTBCoach is a member and drives a SunFusion Yellow with uber mods.

The FJ is a great platform for expedition type wheeling, as long as you don't plan on trying to sleep "inside" the vehicle We've been on several road trips and my wife and I have had a blast doing it.

Hey man, yeah I changed my screen name. Did you sell FJ60 yet? I'm really loving the FjC.
