What do you want the most....?

I was talking with a prospective vendor for our beloved FJ Cruisers about some products to see if he would be willing to produce them for us..... He asked what people want that is not currently available or that what is available is too expensivie or not really fitting their needs (aka, needs improving). I dont want a flame war or anything against vendors so...if you feel the need then PM me them outside of this post.

I personally am interested in another snorkel option maybe in aluminum with welded seams...as an alternative to the Safari Snorkel.

Also, I am interested in a storage box/drawers kind of like Tuffy but with the versatility of the wooden boxes some of you have built...with two drawers...compartments...wings for access to jack and inverter...etc etc etc for a price lower or comparable to the available option with more versatility.

List items or give me items you want....and I am going to pass it along and see what they are willing to tackle as a prototype and then see the real interest in a Group Buy.

Thanks for your input and ideas up front....

For a start though.....who might be interested in a proven snorkel design fabricated from aluminum with cost similar to Safari Snorkel.

so no interest here for an alternative to the Safari Snorkel that maybe exits through area in front of A-pillar or through fresh air vent on passenger side rather than side of fender? This would be of welded aluminum and painted to match vehicle or left raw for you to paint.

Hope to have prototype done with vendor soon just trying to get ideas on whether there is market for a competitor to the Safari Snorkel....one made out of aluminum with welded seams...and possibly exiting vehicle in different location than currently available.

I'd love to get an alternate option for storage in the back. The tuffy option is ok but way over priced. I would like to have a box that bolts down into the existing tie down locations in the back. Then the box itself would have various attatchment points for ratchtething other things down. So, maybe a few drawers..... would be nice if the flat spot on top of the box had attatchment points to put a hi-lift, axe, shovel or other heavier items. I know in the future I will be running a winch on a multi mount. So, for me I would like a place to bolt that down into the back of the FJ. Would be nice if a box could be built with this in mind....... or at least have an area where you could place such a heavy item. Think about it a lot of us carry gear and tools. Some of our tool bags weigh as much as a winch. Would be nice to have a area that could accomodate and hold something quite heavy in place in the case of a rollover.

ETRAIN, makes and sells the bolt down boxes for the FJ made of wood with the wings to access the jack and etc, might contact him for that, interror LEDs possibly red in color would be nice for reading maps especially at night so it doesnt mess up the night vision. The snorkel would be interesting to see, but what I would like to see is a functional RAM Air Hood, I know that URD makes a CAI that would be perfect for a hood like that.

Also what about some tube fender rails that replace the plastic ones we have now, possible with the wheel well block off like we see on some many trail jeeps.

ETRAIN's box is great but he is in Cali and im in Va. Isn't feasible to ship an item like that and keep the price low. Especially with a small business owner.

No interest in another snorkle, but +1 on more storage box options. Besides being expensive, the Tuffy box is way too heavy. To be fair, it's sold as a solid security product - but I don't care about security I just want a light-weight drawer system the same height as the ledges on the sides.

Does ETRAIN have a web site or a thread here on mud with pictures of his stuff and contact info? I will try a search on his user name.

I would like to see a roof top cargo box that fits perfectly in the factory roof rack.
Something that would do away with the factory cross bars, with the new box itself bolting into the main bars of the roof rack. That would keep it as low as possible. Maybe even incorporate lights on the front and back.

I would like to see someone design re-enforcement tubing for the inner fenders so they won't crack or rip.

I think this would Be SWEET! it would get rid of the plastic that most people hate anyway, and protect your Sheet metal.. Is any one else interested in this??

If anyone in CO is interested let us know!

I am curious about snorkel options. I am not fond of the Safari and the Volant seems hard to come by.

If any of you in this thread are in Pennsylvania, Maryland or even northern WV....let me know. The fab shop and vendor is ready to start on this after first of year and I have not been able to find an FJ Cruiser that does not already have a snorkel in that area and is willing to let their truck be used for the prototype snorkel I have in mind.

If I dont find a local volunteer....I might have to take a week off of work and drive up myself as I really want something different....aluminum....choice of heads (ram air type or donaldson cyclonic pre filter), closer fit to A-Pillar and exiting engine bay below A-Pillar or through fresh air vent....

Thanks for any volunteers so I can get you in contact with shop and share some ideas.

A mod for the front passanger seat so it will fold forward and lay flat like the back seats.
