Pulstar Plugs?

Im getting ready to change out my spark plugs and was going to go with the NKG's when the guy at the shop told me to look into pulstars...apparently they guarantee a gain of at least 5 hp from these plugs and they run 25 bucks a piece, they say that an independent lab tested them. It almost sounds too good to be true thought, I wanted to know if anyone had used them in their FJ or not...If not what other types of plugs is everyone using?

Think you answered your own question.

I am pretty old, and used to make a living as a mechanic. Miracle spark plugs have been around since the Model T. All the ones I've ever seen are snake oil, but YMMV.

Before the days of modern computerized ignition from the factory, you could get a few HP by putting in a big-ass coil and opening your spark plug gaps way up, but that is pretty much already done for you now stock.

If true, is 5HP at 6,500 rpm worth $150 to you? Not me. You wouldn't even feel it.

Now if I gained 3 mpg, maybe. But that would be impossible with just a sparkplug swap. Stick with the Denso's or NGK's. They are cheap and will not let you down.

Ya i went with the NGK Iridium's that what my buddy runs in his race truck so i figured it was a good bet...Id rather spend that money on something else anyways, plus after reading more on their website it said the pulstars were for stock engines only and couldnt be used on modified engines...so that was out.

It's a bunch of crap. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Stick with the Denso's IMO.
