I've got a couple hundred miles on the TRD Supercharger install on my '07 FJ and thought some of you might be interested in a report. I've never really had a problem with the performance of the FJ except maybe when towing and that the auto trans is does a lot of shifting up and down on hills. Overall I'm very satisfied with the new level of power and performance. It pulls very hard off the bottom, it gets up to freeway speed without working hard (ie, don't need full throttle), it holds speed up hills and it seriously kicks ass passing. Mileage seems very good given the new power level. I made a 102 miles round trip test run that I I got 20.77 mpg. This trip included up and down hills, highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph and one WOT pass up to 97 mph (yes, it gets to 97 very quick). I also had about 5 miles with a 6x12 enclosed single axle trailer in tow.

Prior to the supercharger install I made some test runs with my dashboard dyno. Stock '07 FJ with auto trans, 265/70R17 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's, full tank of fuel, tool box and one passenger. 0-60 time over four runs averaged 9.48 seconds. Quarter mile over two runs averaged 17.27 seconds and 83.5 mph.

After with TRD Supercharger, TRD Cat-Back Exhaust and TRD Cold Air Kit. 0-60 time over four runs 7.13. Quarter mile over two runs averaged 15.28 seconds and 95.3 mph.

I noticed that making consecutive in the heat of the day that the performance would drop off each run which I think indicates that the intercooler is being overwelmed a bit. Temperature was in the low 90's.

I'm planning 3" ome lift, 33 or 35 inch tires, all-pro bumpers and a Gobi Stealth roof rack.

what dashboard Dyno are you running? How do you like it. I'm looking for something other than a scangauge.

Dashboard Dyno looks good, but dosen't really blend in with the dash and it's quite a bit bigger than the Scanguage, has more functions though.

Anyway. On high-way driving a S\C shouldn't really effect your MPG, as a matter of fact it SHOULD help it a little as it's giving you more air. It's when you STOMP it that you will see the needle go down since it makes the engine roar. But general driving...I highly doubt you'd see a big drop in MPG, I just know that if I got a S\C I'd have my foot on the pedal even more though :-P, what's the use of having that power and not using it eh? S\CS open up around 2.5(3k)-5k generally if I recall. At low rpms they don't really do anything aka cruising.

Whew! Big price difference! That Dashdyno goes for 360$ on Amazon, Scanguage is like...what? 120 shipped? In reality, the main thing about the Scanguage is that it reads codes, can scan codes, and can clear codes. As well as give you a very good estimate on mpg and 'tank to empty. The Dashdyno seems to be bloated with things that most of us wouldn't use. Aka, it seems to be a "tuner" version of the "Scanguage" we don't really need anything like that even WITH the TRD S\C. I could see how someone who has a Supra and is constantly tuning it would need that to detect peaks etc, but us... it's a bit overkill, our engines are pretty simple, and if somethings wrong it'll throw a code.

I like overkill and a I can swing a few hundred bucks. Looks like the DashDyno combines all the functions of the Dash Hawk and the scanguage. I really just can't stand how the Scanguage looks. I'm anal about how thinks look, and for me, the scanguage isn't going to be seen in my rig until they spend a little time on making it look nice. Yes the DashDyno is more expensive, but it does a whole lot more.

Yeah, my point was, it does a lot more...but are the extra features it has anything you would remotely benefit from? The scanguage has all the normal utilities that any regular person would need, and some advanced ones too. I think you're mainly going for this one cuz of looks

Yes... I am mainly going for it because of looks. If they made the SG halfway attractive, I'll get that instead. As is, I think it looks like a piece of crap.

I painted my interrior black, so it blends in perfectly with my vents.

What kind of gas mileage were you getting before adding the supercharger? Have you added the lift and tires yet? If so, what is your MPG now?

Unfortunately, I did not do a mileage baseline. I have a OME med-med lift installed and 285/70R17 all terrains, expedition one bumper and superwinch, but have not done a mileage test yet. Will post when I do.
