Does anyone know how sales are going on the FJ.........

I read in the WSJ that the new LC 200 and the Lexus LX are selling very well year over year.
It would seem to me that the die hard LC fans who liked the FC concept would have driven sales #'s the first year, but with the recent spike in fuel costs and the lack of new models such as the limited editions last year, the TRD; and this year's TT SE, I would think sales would be off..........gm

The huge drop in sales is across the board in the USA. Blame gas prices and changing trends. All the fullsize trucks are taking unprecedented hits in sales and the only company doing well is HONDA, the only major company not reporting losses these last few months.
with sales of the Civic being #1, overtaking the Ford F150 (which has been #1 for quite some time) it is an incredibly fast shift in the market.
GM, Ford & Dodge can't give away the fullsize trucks & suv's at this point. No one wants them.

The entire industry is in a frenzy trying to shift manufacturing to fuel efficient cars as well as hybrids.

Toyota will probably not be offering much more or many 'updates' in the BOF vehicles. They may focus more on the econo market which is going nuts right now.
Prius will become a brand and 09 brings a new Prius, with a 2 seat and other Prius models.

I do hope they bring that TRD sport-ute FJ CRuiser to market. It is quite nice but I am skeptical with current trends.
One exciting turn of events is that the Jeep Gladiator has a strong shot at going to market now- which, in turn, may green light the FJC ute.

car sales in general are down across the board. Truck sales are positively in the tank. Full size trucks are seeing anywhere from $7k (Tundra) to $13k (Ram) discounts by most reports.

My local dealer has had 2 white TT editions on his lot forever, sticker price is $30k, have no idea what they'd discount to.

If you can afford the gas, there's really never been a better tiem to buy a truck.

They don't even put FJs out on the front lot at the dealers around here anymore. They are tucked way in the back corner of the rear lots if they even have them.

I have alot of new FJs running around my neighborhood. Out Toyota of Orange out here in california always has them sitting out front of the dealership. I know gas sucks but I wouldn`t give up my FJ for nothing. I do drive with a lighter foot and draft a truck or two going to work. It helps.

California has always been a little "different"...

Just look at their Governers over the years!

And it's a "car-centric" state (of mind?) more than any other...

Report from 'Pick Up Country': True, it's a great time to buy a truck or suv if you have been looking for a new one. Also, if you are looking for a late model used one, they should be cheap. However, if you have one to trade in, especially if it is only a few years old, the trade in value may shock you(in a bad way) perhaps negating the incentives being offered on the new one.
In N. CO and S. WY, the FJs are plentiful and lot worn. Local dealer told me they are selling...at a slow rate compared to a year or two ago, most people want a Pious(smugmobile) or similar.
Meanwhile, as a blissful consumer, I am about to install a recently purchased set of rock sliders.
P.S. We traded in our pick up when we bought the FJ. Haven't missed it. All our neighbors have pick ups, large SUVs(Tahoe, Cowboy Cadillac, etc.) or both.

GM just release their last quarter financial statements. They lost 18 Billion in just a few months because sales are down. They are trying to sell the Hummer Brand, and I've heard they may try to sell Saturn and some other of their brands.

Toyota Opens Up About July Sales

August 01, 2008
Today, Toyota Motor Sales (Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicles) reported July sales. A total of 197,424 vehicles were sold in July, down 18.7 percent on a daily-selling-rate basis and 11.9 percent on a volume basis from last July. The breakdown for July: 175,242 for the Toyota Division (Toyota and Scion), a decrease of 17.9 percent from last July, and 22,182 for the Lexus Division—a decline of 24.6 percent from the year-ago month.
Following the announcement, I spoke with Toyota Division Group Vice President Bob Carter and Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Mark Templin. Hear what they have to say about the recent sales results, as well as what the future holds for Toyota and Lexus, in this edition of the “On the Open Road” podcast (6:21).
