Any people painted the dash?
I blacked out my dash with Rustoleum Textured, while it looks good, the paint is a bit rough (textured)...it'll tear up a cloth so it's very hard to clean. I was going to try Flat black, however, I don't know a good way of getting the paint off...sanding it would take a very long time and be hard to get into the vent spots, is it possible to say... (never done this so I'm asking) just soak it in Mineral Spirits to get all the rustoleum and paint off? Painting over it wouldn't work since I'm sure the textured paint underneath would still have a very rough surface.

I've seen a couple threads on the Blue forum... maybe try a search there. They did end up looknig kind of nice. I thought about doing some of the dash parts in Carbon Fiber, but that is just an idea at this stage.
I don't know about dipping the entire dash in spirits or thinner. I wonder if the chemicals might damage the plastic? I have no idea if that would be an issue, but it is something to look into. When I had my trim blacked out, they wet sanded everything and then used some special plastic paint. I didn't do the sanding, but I think that is what most are doing to prep the surface. It may be worth just taking it to a shop to have it sanded as I agree that it could be tough to get into the nooks a crannys. Good luck! __________________ Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. -William Earnest Henley |

Meh. It looks fine. I just wish I'd turn it with a "smooth" flat black paint, textured MATCHES, but it's "rough" it wouldn't be THAT hard to sand it down, it's just I don't want to MESS up any of the plastic when sanding it, which could be quite easy. I think I might just leave it like it is...not worth messing it up. |

if you were to dip it in spirits it would eat away at the plastic...
