FJ Cruiser driver seat wear

Has anyone else experienced excessive wear on the lower bolster of the seat back on the drivers side?

Mine's worn down to the point there's a small hole.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've got 17,349 miles and there is a very noticeable white spot (but no hole yet) on the lower, outboard, driver's seat back bolster.

Mine WAS white!

Until it wore through. I have only 18,976 miles and it's worn all the way through. I know of a few dealers who have replaced the seat cover (like around $800 for just one..upper) under warranty.

But it seems many call it "normal wear & tear".

I'm a big guy and am hard on seats, but I've never seen anything wear THIS quickly. I'm just trying to get a handle on how common this issue is.

I would imagine the seats should wear better than a Yugo's...!

Thx

Hey...I'm man enough to admit I once owned TWO YUGO's!!!

They were basically FIAT 128's and ran pretty good when they ran!

Point is, I got over 200-k hard city drivin' between 'em and I NEVER wore the seats out...

A 2007 Toyota w/ 18-k..?!???...that ain't right!!

800 bucks for a replacement SEAT COVER...that's robbery!

*sigh*
rant over

Mine is showing a lot of wear also. Feels like a hole in the padding under the cover.

800 miles on the truck on March 1, 2007...
after yesterday (OKC to LV), it's got over 72k...

remember, this is a TRAIL TEAM truck, so it gets used and abused daily...yesterday was a non-stop 17 hour drive (other than fuel)...

I leave Big Bear on Sunday night to drive 30 hours/2100 miles to Wisconsin by Tuesday afternoon....then to Ohio for a total trip of 2500 miles by Wed afternoon...

my HOPE is to have this truck in 2009 as well, and continue piling miles on as a long-term testing for Toyota....

I have 33k on an '08 bought in the end of August '07 and only left Wisconsin once for a 2000 mile ride. But Woody got to wheel a lot more than I have.

Hey Woody,

I'm using seat covers from Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories, worth their weight in gold. They are tough, water proof, and go on and off in minutes, to be thrown in the washing machine.
