Auxillary Fuel Tank

Does anyone have any experience with the auxillary fuel tank now being offered by Man-A-Fre?

Are any others on the market?

I really haven't found much on this topic yet.

Yeah, I know all about the red 5 gallon portables

Check the Man-A-Fre vendor section at the blue site. Several folks now putting it through its paces. Looks like a winner.

I've been keeping an eye on that site and product.

It looks pretty well engineered with a good installation process.

However, I keep thinking Ford Pinto...

I was just curious what else is out there.

I maid several fuel tanks Like the MAF. Had trouble with Emission system and they did not hold up vary well to abuse testing. Flange mounting of fuel tank did not support vehicle, skid plate mounted too the tank does not work well it is just pretty. Fuel pump and filter inside tank is not the best set up. Fuel sending unite that is not Toyota dash gauge friendly is Questionable. When you fuel the vehicle you fill front or rear tanks at the same time. I talked with Mr. Steve at MAF. about this and informed him how I can fuel the front or rear tank. They may or may not change this, just need too use up some of the old fill tubes first. I was able to make a strapped fuel tank system with external fuel transfer pump an filter system that uses the Toyota dash gauge. This system does not cut up the dash, FJ's all have switch mounting spot just left of the steering wheel and this system can be installed in a drive way or parking spot in about a hour and half with simple tools. I made and tested six tanks before I ended up with current model and I spent less than what MAF costumer's are clamming they had to pay for a tank.

Mr. Steve is worried about the g-men knocking on his door because of an arrangement like yours. See, he doesn't operate a driveway business and as such, has the very real concern about agencies like the EPA knocking on his door if he ignored strict regulatory requirements for a product he's selling to the public.

I fix storage tanks,I have been Osha trained in construction safety & health. I use to make Emergence response vehicles. I may have worked on your water system. I made all the AUX. rear fuel tank system from extra material's left over from the new tank vents that I make and install. I waited for MAF to make there tanks, just became tired of all the reasons' of why it was not ready! So I made one like there WEB SITE. The ECM did not like it. It can not self check correctly with double capacity in the cold weather in Michigan. It worked in lower Alabama where it was not below freezing. An there are real problems with a flange mounting fuel tank on any moving vehicle. That is why all DOT approved automotive vehicles have tank straps. Go out and take a look, I was not able too find any vehicle with a flange tank. MAF has spent a lot of time and money on there fuel tank project, They have kept there word about bringing this too market.
