Air Tank vs Compressor

What are the pros and cons of having an Air Tank vs an on board compressor. The only 2 things that i would be using it for is airing up tires on the trail and powering an impact gun. As always thanks for the help.

If you plan on installing air lockers at a later date, the compressor gives you that flexibility.

In the long term, an air tank is much less likely to fail.

How often does the tank need to be refilled and about how much does it cost?

Air lockers can be configured for either tanks or compressors.
I answer this issue using history. Admiral Hyman G Rickover, the father of Nuclear Power, was approached by engineers asking how they should proceed with securing the closure head onto the reactor vessel. The options were (1) weld it or (2) bolt it. The decision was made and to this day nuclear reactors are assembled using both methods. I have both an ARB compressor and Nitrogen tank.
