Just did it! do it yourself and save the close to 1k they want to charge. Assuming your are running a 6 with AT 4WD. Took me the weekend, but I have been to autozone twice to plug into their computer to make sure all is running right, and it is!

As of today, 10,000 miles.
Bear in mind I've only had this thing a little over two months. This really is a fun truck to drive. __________________ Eric KJ4ETF TLCA 18721 07 FJC 6MT So far pretty standard. Looks like this FJ is going to be a money pit. |

40,000 on my TRDSE
Purchased New 12/2006
TRDSE stock with TRD CAI. Changed the 4x4 Fluids at 26K and 36K, Syn lube in 4x4 Rears since 36K. MOBIL 1 in engine since new. Fuel economy consistently at 18-21MPG. No problems to speak of. I love this truck!! __________________ '66 Corvair CORSA Convertible '86 Ford F150XLT '90 FJ62 (STOCK and BLUE) '94 Mustang COBRA Pace car '96 Landcruiser FZJ 80 (STOCK and GREEN) '07 FJ TRD SE (MINE) '08 Highlander LTD HYBRID (Mary Jo's ) |

Only Autos get 21 MPG, and even then only if they are driven gently. The 6 speed manual will never get better then 18. My 6 speed was averaging around 15, but as the engine wares in more, and I stop putting my foot to the floor every chance I get, It's now getting closer to 16-17. You'll only get 18 in a 6 speed manual if you drive on the freeway all the time at no more then 60 mph.
That's my experience anyway. P.S. You need to make sure you're calculating your fuel correctly, and averaging over time, not just going off of one tank full, to truly get accurate MPG calculations. Personally, I use a program on my Treo 700p (palm OS) to accurately track milage and expenses related to my vehicles, but you could do it with a simple spreadsheet or calculator as well. __________________ I once had a lifted '87 Toyota pickup 4x4 22R 5-speed, etc. I latter had a '97 Tacoma X-cab V6 5-speed with all kinds of cool stuff on it. I now have a '07 FJC TRD SE 6-speed completely stock, but still has some cool stuff on it. Spaldam.com |

12,500 mi. Bought the FJ Cruiser the 2nd week of February. 3.5 months old. I'm getting 20 and change mpg all around, city and highway combined. I've gotten as high as 24 with a tailwind on the highway all day. Gotten as low as 15mpg on the highway towing a 4800 lb trailer at 65 mph. It gets about 19 in town if I can keep my foot out of it. No roof rack, factory 17 inch wheels with the stock Bridgestone Dueler HT. TRD CatBack Exhaust and TRD CAI intake. Running Mobil 1. May switch to Amsoil. I've run Mobil 1 for many years and had excellent results. I like Amsoil but it was always difficult to purchase. Of course now there is Lowcountry Amsoil from fellow Mudder Brock. It was quite a surprise to get this kind of mileage out of a 6 speed. I was planning on 16 to 19 as per the sticker. I don't drive like an old man but I'm not first off the line either. It does sound pretty good when you put your foot in it and wind it out a bit. __________________ Eric KJ4ETF TLCA 18721 07 FJC 6MT So far pretty standard. 20 to21 MPG on most Fill-ups and ......

Most of my running (40K in 16 months) is in the Baltimore Washington Metro Area, which is one of the top 5 traffic areas in our great country. My TRDSE has syn lubes throughout, a TRDCAI, Stock tires and suspension and it is an automatic. I try not to idle it much and I usually run the speed limit. The fuel econony has improved since new along with the tenor of the exhaust note. I can't stay out of it, and with $4.00 Regular, it is the most economical of my daily drivers. The fun quotient is also pretty high. Gotta run! My Grandson Josh and I have some Saturday errands to run; later.............gm __________________ '66 Corvair CORSA Convertible '86 Ford F150XLT '90 FJ62 (STOCK and BLUE) '94 Mustang COBRA Pace car '96 Landcruiser FZJ 80 (STOCK and GREEN) '07 FJ TRD SE (MINE) '08 Highlander LTD HYBRID (Mary Jo's ) |

I have tried Regular and Premium for prolonged periods...

I believe that theortically the performance is affected; but I am sure that it is not significant. Furthermore, I hear no pinging or knocking while the engine is operating or pulling. There is also no dieseling after the engine is shut down. I am satisfied that until I see this type of evidence, there is no need to run the more expensive fuel........gm __________________ '66 Corvair CORSA Convertible '86 Ford F150XLT '90 FJ62 (STOCK and BLUE) '94 Mustang COBRA Pace car '96 Landcruiser FZJ 80 (STOCK and GREEN) '07 FJ TRD SE (MINE) '08 Highlander LTD HYBRID (Mary Jo's ) |

I always use regular, I've seen no drop in mpg/performance or any engine hiccups. A lot cheaper too. I consistently get 20-21 mpg, and that's with the occassional H3 drag race
