Guaje Canyon, New Mexico

I got a chance to take my Cruiser offroad this weekend with the High Desert Cruisers. We went up to an area called Guaje Canyon near Los Alamos. I really had a good time and got a chance to see a little of what the FJ Cruiser can do. The guys from High Desert Cruisers helped me over a lot of the harder stuff, but I felt fairly comfortable for my first real wheeling adventure. All in all, the truck did fairly well. The stock sliders and skid plate took a bit of abuse on some of the bigger stuff, and my alloys will never look new again... but in my opinion I think they look better :-) My truck is stock with the exception of some Mickey Thompson MTZ's in stock size. Here are a few pics of the "gate" into the area:

Great pics - now order some skid plates from Bud Built - I destroyed that aluminum skid plate in no time!

CT is being modest. Both truck and driver did exceptionally well. We had some very well built Toyotas on this outing and the FJC hung in there the whole day.

Glad you could make it Mike!

I'm glad you managed to hook up with HDC. I look forward to the full trail report. NM has some really awesome areas to wheel in and you’re in very good hands with the HDC crew.

Yeah... I really benefitted from the experience of High Desert Cruisers. I couldn't have, or wouldn't have, done it without their help. I'm looking forward to more outtings and adventures in the near future!!!

Mike
